Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Key Change Idea

Give me your thoughts on this key change.

Keys that open hatches can no longer appear be found in the bloodweb and can't be brought into the match as an item.

Each match guarantees that 1 key that is able to open the hatch spawns in 1 chest via chance. this chance increases during the match based on how many chests have been opened already vs how many chests are left. a survivor's individual luck stat affects the chance of the chest your opening will have the key. Once the key is found, keys that can open the hatch no longer spawns afterwords, even if dropped or destroyed via franklins demise or on use.

Hatch will spawn when there's one (or two idk) gens remaining to open the gate or when one survivor remains.

this makes plunder builds/luck builds more viable to play and prevents SWF's from gen rushing to exit via hatch by encouraging players to explore more which could slow gen progress down with one or more players focused on finding the key.

Nah. Thats dumb. Glad the devs would never do this

In this case, keys would not be an item, but a game mechanic, and a niche one at that. It would definitely alleviate the key struggle a little bit but some of its problems are still present and it also makes use of the key uninteractive as well as adding another luck-based mechanic to the game (like we don't have enough already).

Keys need a full rework, as does the hatch. I'm confident this is what the devs are up to, as simple changes just won't cut it.
