The invisible problem or why buffed Wraith has become a huge issue

Wraith has been for the longest time one of the most balanced killers in the game both in terms of statistics and risk/reward. An easy killer with a simple gameplan and simple ideas behind it.

Right now, after all the buffs he received, it's becoming more and more obvious that Wraith is possibly Freddy 2.0, a simple Killer with an easy power and insane potential.

Map pressure

Wraith can put extreme map pressure on the Survivor with little to no counterplay BASEKIT. He is way too fast and can check multiple Gens in the span of 15 seconds. The almost-true invisibility gives Survivors no counterplay because it's become really hard to notice him approaching meaning that he will almost always get a free hit.

PIG BUT BETTER

I have no clue what they were thinking when they buffed the lunge after uncloaking but right now it's straight up a better Pig Ambush. Most pallets become unwinnable for the Survivor as you can't tell which direction he is going to come from. Since the number of pallets is very limited in most maps that means that he can get even more free hits.

I should also mention that his invisibility is straight up better that Pig's crouching but I guess that's obvious.

Add-ons

With add-ons this free hit machine becomes even more unstoppable, a simple Pink add-on can deny all his drawback and most of the counterplay, a YELLOW one does basically the same thing in a different way. I'm talking about the Coxcombed Clapper and the Bone Clapper, the former is a Pink so it should have a drawback (Silences the bell but also does X where X is not beneficial to Wraith), the latter should not exist in the current form.

Proxy camping

Buffs to invisibility gave him another tool to camp, before he had to stand still in order to become truly invisible, right now he can place a Survivor on a hook next to a couple of Gens and camp while patrolling staying near invisible, which is crazy to me and I don't know what they were thinking.

how to fix it

Rework Bone Clapper, slow down his movement speed while cloaked OR make him 110% base, slow the uncloaking action to give Survivors more counterplay, cut down the uncloaking lunge, make him easier to spot from distance to reward Survivors that pay attention, remove collision when uncloaking.

*vaults window infinite times while wraith is cloaked*

*basically auto-wins on any double vault tile due to infinite vaults*

    He is truly indestructible.

His base kit is finally in a decent spot but I think all seeing blood and silent bell could use some negative trade offs for equipping them as they are a bit ridiculous.

Otherwise my only gripe is that his optimal playstyle of hit and run is quite boring to play against. But he's pretty balanced and very mid tier post buff.

Yeah, all seeing with silent bell. Slap on some MYC and BBQ. Ez 4ks.

I think wraith is fine as he is and is countered by spine chill.

The only change I want to him is that all seeing blood addon. It's a free aura read with no downsides what so ever and completely kills stealth the survivors have. This would probably be fine there was a downside to using the perk.

No offense but what an absolutely garbage take on the wraith buffs.

He is now actually invisible from farther away. You can still see him from mid to close distance, nevermind the fact that he sounds like a trash compactor. Easily countered with Premonition, Spine Chill, and also your eyes!

Despite all of his buffs, he is still an M1 killer with no instadown, no tracking, moderate to low map pressure, who is easy to loop.

Oh yeah, and you can literally burn him with a flashlight...... absolutely OP 🤣

Really ? He's now finally around mid-tier killer, nothing even remotely as opressive as you claim he is. Also I wouldn't be comparing him to Pig who is generally accepted as one of the weakest killers in DBD who has only the traps going for her.

He's mediocre at chase and decent at stealth, mobility is his strongest aspect. Good survivor team still obliterates him. Any nerfs at all is the last thing he needs.

    Doesn't @Boss main wraith? Let's ask them.

Is what op claim about wraith valid and what is his best addons?

Chase potential trumps all else and Wraith is certainly below average because @ the majority of loops he’s an m1 killer with no power.

It’s true that he’s great at catching people out in the open and he can stomp newer survivors, but that’s certainly not enough to make up for his incredibly lacklustre chase potential.

    No counterplay?

    • Be more aware of your surroundings like against any stealth killer
    • When you hear the bell, use a pallet or window or prepare to use one
    • Loop him as you would any other m1 killer
    • If using bone clapper, then always be on the lookout the second you hear the bell and get into a safer spot if you can

    Pig but better?

I guess you could say that. But the devs have mentioned that they will work on pig after demo or whoever. However no, it does not always work on "most" pallets, if the survivor is good it will not work on any decently safe tile such as the car loops in autohaven. Besides, he still has to uncloak and a survivor can just run to another tile closeby to avoid the hit.

    Addons

I will admit his bone clapper is incredibly strong (his second best addon and should be on very rare rarity), but the coutnerplay is the same. When you hear the bell get into a safer spot.

    Proxy camping

It doesn't really matter all that much, BT is getting a buff too. No he does not need 110% mms either, that would kill him.

He is still very much balanced. It sounds like you are still just a noob.

His map pressure has become better, but not much changes by just adding more speed.

It feels better when playing as him and it makes you interact more with him when playing against him, but nothing has changed about the actual pressure that matters: The progression pressure.

Once you're in a chase, you either take the risk of leaving them alone to heal up again, or you commit to the chase and risk having to face one of the many low-object loops, long-wall window loops, Killer Shack with an intact Pallet, or a garbage main building.

And while you chase, the 3 others are completely free to do as they please.

Hillbilly and Nurse are true examples of actual pressure.

They not only get around faster at base, they can actually damage during it.

It doesn't matter if Wraith is invisible if you can still see him come within 24 meters.

Moreover, he's still very loud, and i've been able to hear him snarl over my Generator progress numerous times.

His camping has certainly gotten more efficient, but the main counters to his camping haven't changed at all, and the new Borrowed Time will certainly gain popularity against all Killers -1, so it'll become less appealing to do even if they don't know if the Survivors have it or not.

I don't even wanna go into the "fixes", because naming them that is misleading at the least.

His best Add-ons to me are Coxcombed Clapper, "All Seeing" - Blood, Bone Clapper (but only in combination with "The Ghost" - Soot), "The Ghost" - Soot (but only in combination with either Coxcombed Clapper or Bone Clapper), and "All Seeing" - Spirit at the bottom of the top.

Both Shadow Dances are not great on their own, you need to have led Survivors to an open space to make good use of them. Combined with "The Serpent" - Soot they actually get use now, but it does require 2 Add-ons.

Swift Hunts are still as mediocre as ever.

Windstorms are the new average. Y'know: It's nice to go faster, but he doesn't need it anymore.

"Blind Warrior" - White is meh, 3.6 extra seconds per heal isn't great. It might be adding up towards the end, but i just don't get use out of it.

    Blinks are a funny joke.

"Blind Warrior" - Mud is only okay in them anti-Aura builds, hot garbage at other times.

"The Beast" - Soot is self-explanatory. Kinda funny in Terror Radius builds tho, especially with Dark Devotion & "The Ghost" - Soot, for some extreme TR shenanigans!

"The Hound" - Soot is a prime example of how weak Common Add-ons can be in this game. Unless you're a die-hard Bloodhound fan, this ain't it for you.

"The Serpent" - Soot is bad on its own, as Survivors just run away as soon as you start kicking, making the speed burst useless. But like Shadow Dances, this isn't the case if you do it in an open area, and combined with Shadow Dances, it might actually get you that hit.

Coxcombed Clapper and "All Seeing" - Blood might actually need to be looked at now, now that Wraith's like this, but other than that he's in a great spot!

    The year is 20XX

The forums have reached their boiling point

Wraith is now the target of widespread vitriol, while Nurse remains able to literally walk through walls

Truly, we have advanced to the highest level of cognition

Alright well your immediate assumption of wraith being balanced before is immediately incorrect, he was very weak before his buffs and he's better now but probably middle of the road with some strong add ons that could push him a little higher up the list.
