How weak is Billy?
For my next post being directed towards that chainsaw bro, I need to make sure I should look into him first
So here is a big question, what is all of Billy's issues without needing to remove Overheat
Whats all of Billy's issues when removing Overheat (Add-ons out of the question as Billy has overheat add-ons)

Billy’s main issue right now is that a vast majority of his add ons are garbage. Other than like the lopra chains, most of them rarely do much. Some of the old add ons needed nerfs, for sure, but why were so many completely removed?
7 -
Billy is still pretty strong. The main issue is his insane skill floor and ceiling.
When bubba is a much easier slightly worse version of him he’s not appealing to most
3 -
Well, how many Billys do you see? They are pretty rare now.
If a killer suddenly becomes unpopular, then well... he´s not good anymore.
8 -
IMO his biggest issue is that other Killers are stronger and easier to play.
He has other problems too, but that's the main one. The game has evolved and changed without him.

Very good question, I think most of the community would have been happy with the charge speed add-ons not stacking (Not sprint add-ons)
Which is why I wanna look into both of the bros add-ons, perks, and such so I can attempt to make them a strong killer while having the skill floor not completely crush you

Tbf oni’s release already hurt the billy player base a lot prior to his rework. Plus a lot of people just used instasaw and crack billy and left once they removed that.
They did over do it though

Well, I would say that all Billy's problems come from the overheat mechanic itself, he doesn't really have any issues other than bugs like invisible collision walls and phantom saw.
0 -
Hence the creation of this post as I wanna make sure all the killers are equally played, meaning all killers have the same strength however having a different power and playstyle to do so

Billy was perfectly fine. He was the gold standard on how killers should be balanced. Now he´s just a bad example.
No one asked for his nerf.

Excluding Overheat. Maps being designed to nerf curving a perfect example is the hit boxes on a lot of these new tiles are horribly made i can't even begin to tell you how many times I have run into air.
Next would be 90% of his addons not really offering much to his kit while the ones that do are heavily punished.
Another very valid issue is the fact you LITERALLY can't hit survivors on pallets anymore ever It will always prio the pallet over downing the Survivor.
Also his really terrible FOV Zoom in without shadowborn its awful and even with it still awful.
Im sure there's more but this is my experience with him.

High c low b tier in my opinion the over heat was ok idea but they did it wrong and his addons needed tweaks not scrap garbage he has mb 3 good addons now both engravings and low pro.
You can tell the devs knew what they were doing rember the addon that made you faster when a flashlight was on you. You know because survivors are always shining a flashlight on you when you can walk.

He's still pretty good but his nerf definitely hit him and other killers have also gotten stronger since, so i'd say he's probably better the average but not top tier, the bigger nerf in my opinion was that hes not as fun anymore.
0 -
I see, so its both Add-ons and Collisions causing the most issues when overheat is still in play
0 -
Either way his add ons needed a nerf. Pretty much halting his charge time was simply unfair.
I do agree though overheat was unnecessary but it was fine until they change the dissipation rate after the ptb
1 -
Id say yeah but everything I listed still also plays a huge part in it. The Chainsawing Pallets over hitting a Survivor also is insanely dumb imo.

A Billy with cooldown addons is pretty good but with how strong the killers are these days he doesn't really bring a lot to the table. He has high mobility with ability to instadown survivors in the open but not a lot of chase potential. His chainsaws also often require prediction against good survivors, which makes them less than reliable. Without cooldown addons he also gets punished for using his power a lot, which means he can't rely on his mobility all the time or do many mindgames back to back in loops.
You could play Bubba and stick to a side of the map to make up for your mobility and you would do better in every way possible.

Billy's pretty strong to be honest. Some of his perks are a bit pants.
But his speed is insane. I mean have you ever been in a chase with that guy 😂😳 he's crazy.

Billy was more fun when you could go for ambitious chainsaws a lot and try to get curves and chainsaw mindgames. Now with the overheat you’re punished for trying to use your power too much, which means you’re essentially forced to try once or twice and then just M1.
I wasn’t opposed to the heat mechanic when they first introduced it, but I’ve changed my mind over time. It was a bad decision IMO because it’s anti-fun.

I think most killers need a addon rework. Something that allows different playstyles like Myers and Hag addons. That completely change the way they play.
0 -
Yes, we have pre nerf. It was a lot more crazy but it was fun
1 -
That’s fair. I’ve always loved body blocker hag and tombstone Myers is great!
Billy’s new set of add ons are kinda boring. I do like his iri’s though
2 -
You fail to take Engravings into account. Now not only you're punished for having a longer charge but you also have to babysit more a stupid red bar; all of that just for using an add-on that's supposed to help you.
That's complete garbage game design.
The problem with crack Billy was using Tuning Guide/Thompson's mix which had extra benefits on top of reduced charge time.
Spark Plug/Primer Bulb + Engravings was perfectly fine. Indoor maps already hurt Billy, and you should encourage a skillful playstyle like curving, not punish it.
2 -
Eh, easier but bubba is stronger right now
0 -
^ this sums up everything plus really bad addons
0 -
His addons are not only boring, but also kinda pointless. I mean, he walks faster, while someone aims a flashlight at him... like... really?
Jump scare myers is my all time favorite. To bad i see so few playing him.
0 -
Maybe adjust one of the addons to remove the downsides of other addons. So just 20% reduction of charge time or just increased speed (Engravings), etc. Or just flat out remove all his addon downsides.
Make them worth running again.
0 -
That was actually changed to and increase in charge speed for 30 seconds after a stun. Pretty useful although the pallet stun bug makes it impossible to use
Jump scare Myers is kinda boring to me. All that happens is that he hits you and you run to a safe pallet to heal rinse and repeat
1 -
His engraving should reduce overheat gain by revving to compensate but otherwise they’ll be fine
0 -
If played to their highest level billy is slightly better but bubba is much easier to use
0 -
Its fun on indoor maps like Lerys. Grabs out of nowhere.
0 -
Most people i think agree with onis release and other killers becoming stronger if they just addon passed billy the meta woulda shifted away from billy anyway. So i don't know personally where billy would lie rn if he didn't have overheat. Also every billy loop in the devs own words "felt fair and engaging like the most skillful would win" weird they say about how fair he is and murder him.
0 -
He’d be around the same where he is now. Overheat is unnoticeable to a lot of players
1 -
It ruins his chase potential slightly. The devs said he had no real drawback just holding his saw around loops. Was becoming 92% not a big drawback? So weird.
2 -
Is he not 100% speed? I could’ve swore he was
0 -
Hmm the wiki doesn't say. Id have to test in customs. I had heard he was slower than survivors though. I mean its a easy thing to test get right up against a survivor and hold the saw and see if they start gaining distance
Edit: he is 100% mb. Still doesn't make much of a difference around some loops since he doesn't gain ground unlike the likes of bubba.
0 -
hes a lot harder to play than most killers, which is why not a lot of people play him. not to mention Oni is way stronger and easier to play
also im a firm believer that we dont see him anymore because most old billys just used crack billy and insta saw
0 -
Nah i never ran those 2. What killed him for me was pov nerf. Turning nerf. Stupid roar. His generally slugish feeling. The overheat. Ect. Also onis the one with instasaw now (scalped topknot anyone?)
0 -
thats why i said most, not all. But the other things are good reasons
0 -
He's not, he walks at carrying speed. I guess you didn't check the movement speed article, the killer's pages only cover the speed while using a power, not while charging it.
0 -
Invisible walls, worst addons in the game, indoor maps, overheat punishes trying to learn Billy or using their power too much
0 -
I mean why bother putting effort in to killers that take skill.
As soon as you become good with them; they get nerfed into oblivion.
2 -
Billy is a very, very strong and dangerous pub stomper like pre-nerf Freddy. But by a good SWF he might struggle a bit, not much, however.
But against a very high skilled and coordinated team, you wont be able to do much like you could do with old billy sadly
0 -
I used to play Billy a lot before his nerf and I agree with other similar comments that the main issue is that his add-ons are trash
1 -
On a scale from old Freddy to new Freddy, Billy is definetly below Clown but above Trickster.
0 -
It's rather simple. Overheating is an annoyance and the majority of Billy's new addons are garbage.
0 -
It’s the addons. Like just compare his addons to Blights. Blight has turn speed, faster speed without a delay, undetectable without a delay, difficult skillchecks, slowdown on nearby survivors. So many more advantages.
I still like Billy but his addons provide such a limited benefit.

Serious question to Billy players/mains:
Would you rather have some addons that slightly reduce the chainsaw speed by a flat amount but cannot be stacked with one another or would you rather just have the base chainsaw charge speed reduced and have no charge addons of this kind?
0 -
He's not that weak, not too strong, a very standard middle-of-the-road killer. He has great mobility and an opportunity for an instadown (although you don't want to always use the chainsaw). Pretty well-rounded. He doesn't really have any glaring strengths, but neither any glaring weaknesses.
0 -
Honestly, just removing Overheat would bring Billy to the B+ tier. Fixing his add-ons by making them more useful/powerful would bring him back to his beloved A tier.
0 -
The fact that you're asking for answers while discounting the main answer is hilarious. His add ons became bad and his power became skill capped. That's it, that's why he's low tier. Too many killers have been released since him who have better powers that do the same thing. Oni and Blight are literally his replacements as they do what he did but better.
