Because theirs no way to nerf Spirit without defeating the purpose of her kit.
Everybody wants some kind of indication about when she's phasing, and that defeats the purpose of her kit.

So she's OP because you say so, but new players can't play her well? Sounds more like you just don't like her.
Oh god, not fog whisperers. I've only seen one or two that are level-headed enough to have proper input. I still remember that woman from...2? 3 years ago? Who was a fog whisperer and would threaten to ban people who 'camped' and 'tunneled' and otherwise angered her.
Those people aren't gods of game balance. They're just good at the game.

I still think she needs a rework, I think she can still be strong as long as a rework is good and it doesn't completely nerf her into the ground. The game needs strong killers, but not very unfun killers to play against.

Spirit players are just cowards who lack the skill to play Nurse.
It's the equivalent of keys: bypassing part of the game to make it very difficult for the opponent.
Spirit/Nurse: "What are loops?"
Keys: "What are exit gates?"

The purpose of No Mither is to pick yourself up off the ground, yet the killer knows you have it from the very start of the match and will not slug you.

Rather than focus on making her weaker they could try making her more difficult to play/learn, which would make her fit with the other strongest killers better

The problem is 'unfun' is subjective and impossible to balance around.
People claim 'tunneling' and 'camping' is 'unfun' and Survivors deserve punishments from giving up hooks to losing BP.
And if you balance around a 'fun factor' for Killers, literally every Killer would have nerf bats, because SOMEONE would whine that the Killer getting even 1 kill is 'unfun', because they're the one who always dies.
That is why a Killer, or tactic, being 'unfun' is NOT a metric for nerfs. It's not data; it's a subjective idea that changes for each and every player in the game.

You do know there's only so much BHVR can get done for each mid chapter and they've been having other priorities. We just recently had a bunch of changes to multiple killers that were long overdue.
Spirit's power also isn't uncounterable despite all the complaints on the forum. I do think there is room for improvement, but it's not like you have no zero options against her.
Just a few things you can do to help prolong a chase against a spirit:
It's much harder for a spirit to track you while healthy and it's best to treat her like Oni. Delay her first hit as long as possible. Which is easier to do given she's 110 outside of phasing. Spirit is also a killer that in general you don't want to stay injured against either similar to the Twins.
She's reliant on sound and maps have ambient noise that can help you confuse a phasing spirit. Crouching also reduces your own noise.
Spirit's phase has a rather short duration meaning a lot of windows and pallets can basically stop her given enough distance from her starting phase. Although the Amulent + Mother Daughter ring drastically changes that.
Spirit lost collision during her phase meaning it's possible to run through her phase (similar to running at a blinking nurse) and confuse her since sounds get a little weird when both the spirit and survivor are at the same location. Obviously this is risky.

Enlighten me on how to make Spirit harder to play? I'm kinda interested in your idea(s).
Because from my pov, sounds are always breaking and scratch marks are unreliable. I can't see a way to make her more difficult.

The difference with spirit is that she has no counterplay, so she literally needs a rework. In her current state, she is both very easy to do well with on top of being very unfun to play against. All the more reason to give her a rework.

Not really on for it here, she is incredibly powerful but yet can't say she has fully breached OP, if anything her add-ons need looked at and also fixed (one of her add-ons that should be slowing down the timer is speeding it up still I believe lol)

ahh this myth never was proven. anyway i used to main stridor spirit, I could say spirit is the less effort 4K killer that is borderline OP and need good equipment for that. Even if survivor can hide, with stridor their breath still can be easily tracked

That's the tricky part. Removing breathing audio and giving some other, more complicated way of tracking survivors maybe. Messing with her movement when phasing, maybe speeding her up but making her more difficult to control.

Im not bothering to explain myself because everyone knows shes op, just watch otzdarva's tier list or something, im sure he explains it very well.
But if i had to summarise it... Great mobility, insane chase, no counterplay, survivors dont get any information, stridor spirit = no counterplay, boosted OP addons... Thats the stuff that comes to mind first.

It's funny; Survivors continue to say 'she has no counterplay' while people continue to list counterplay. Then they plug their ears, wait a day, and go 'she has no counterplay'. Then someone lists counterplay, and they plug their ears again.
Survivors sit there and go 'New people are bringing down her kill rates, she's totally OP'. But if she was as OP as folks like to claim, newbies would be getting consistent kills with her.
And if it takes skill to kill with her; that's not being OP; that's having a high skill ceiling, and is what EVERY Killer should strive for. Higher skill equaling higher reward is balance.

Maybe the devs realized they were too hasty and stupid in nerfing killers like Hillbilly and Freddy when they weren't even that strong. Sadly the complaints won't stop until a nerf inevitably happens.

As for her "counter play":
She gives no indication as to where she is when phasing nor does she give you information as to when she starts to phase. She can react to your footsteps, breathing, groans of pain, environmental cues, and vaulting noises. Survivors have nothing to react to in order to see where she is or when she is phasing, thus you cannot even begin to outplay or "counter" her while phasing.
- Vaulting and then slow vaulting a window is just pure guessing of what she is doing, this is not counterplay either.
- Walking back into your own trail of scratch marks into a different place will not work because she can hear your breathing and footsteps.
- Dropping a pallet and then vaulting is just guessing again, except this time you lose a pallet on top of possibly being hit.
- Iron will makes it harder for the average spirit, but anyone with a brain will realize that you cannot have gotten very far if you start walking. They can still also hear your footsteps or see grass moving.
People say she doesn't have counterplay because she literally doesn't. Guessing is not outplaying, you are making a decision and hoping it was the right one.
You cannot even begin to counter play a spirit because she gives you nothing to react to, and new spirit players are why people think she has counterplay.
Also, how does Spirit take skill to play? All you need is a good headset which I have, and it is just an easy win.

There won't be any nerfs coming soon maybe in 2 years. Spirit is strong but not OP. Survivor mains love calling OP to anything that makes them use different tactics to win chases. If you're new to the game yeah then shes considered strong just like any other killer. There is counterplay to spirit and people know about those counters I use it all the time and don't have trouble with spirits. But you see some people saying oh thats not counter play youre just guessing like looping any other killer doesn't make you guess. But hey some people here say you just need a good headset right? Like both sides need headsets lmao. But nah she isn't getting neefed any time soon.

Just like any other killer it depends on the player controlling her. You can't do the same thing over and over again and expect the same result. This means double backing, slow vault, faking the slow vault, dropping pallet early, run one direction and then walk to either side works for me. Also running going into buildings and walking out can help hide scratch marks. Keep track of when she phases so you can keep her at a loop and know when you have to leave it when she gets her power back. She's 110 so looping her isn't hard.

She has an idle animation reset when she starts to phase. Very easy to see if you know what to look for.

Healing still counters spirit because you aren't injured as long against her or have tools to heal yourself
Also if you can't defend yourself don't get into a chase don't take a chase, there is more counterplay than just perks but most people don't see counterplay unless it is run in a circle or perks to carry them which is why I didn't go into the whole 9 yards of counterplay 99% of players just don't bother with against spirit
Her problematic addons have already been changed whats left is duration with a trade off, and movement speed with a trade off that demands excellent hearing and tracking, or just normal addons for decent boosts
Any killer with decent potential like spirit solo queue doesn't stand a chance against since there is no cordination of strategy or gameplay 99% of the time there, even if 3 people counterplay spirit by being stealthy and not taking chases that 1 person can still lose of the game for the other 3, any killer that can target out a weak link with strong chase power can do the same

Stealth literally counters every killer in the game barring doctor.
If no one takes chase the killer has free reign to patrol gens. Someone has to distract to buy time.

as long as you keep gens spread far enough stealth can buy time, a mentality of you need to force a chase with the killer doesn't work vs spirit unless they play either badly, slowly, "fair" or any combination of them
if they are patrolling gens just hide around the gen which either way buys time since they have no one to go after and continues patrolling or has to spend time searching for the survivor successful or not it still buys time

The reason why this game get's so competitive is the stupid rank system. Losing a single pip and dropping to rank 2 just because you have one bad game literally just frustrates the F out of you and in turn people start to get toxic because they get frustrated. Tbh I always say this game is Killer sided just for the sheer amount of Bloodpoints they get from doing nothing really, then as a survivor i'm escaping, doing gens, totems, unhooks, running, healing & getting the odd pallet/fl save...here is 20k points. Even with WGLF it's nothing.
I played against a Blight today. 1 guy dc'd from first chase, then he kills 2 of us on first hook & the third guy dies 2nd hook. Here's 21k points vs our 6-8k.
The most fun I had on this game was the Chinese new year when we were all getting so many more bloodpoints from completed gens and stuff...

I would say make it so that audio cannot be heard while phasing. Increase her speed to Mother Daughter Ring levels (remove all add-ons that increase her speed) And heavily reduce how long she can phase (the total distance traveled should be roughly where it is now) Add-ons that increase phasing only barely increase phasing time. This would give her a more aggressive higher skill curve while maintaining her current power level.

pallets arent always close together, especially in open maps or dead zones with just 1 pallet. especially if its a good spirit they will get to you before you get to the next loop

Nah man pigs alright the way she is. She's a pain in my butt but she's cool to go against. Spirit on the other hand is annoying asf! Can't understand how anyone who's played against her can't see any issues with her if I'm honest..

Yeah I didn't understand the problem with Freddy he was pretty easy to go against. I usually just stayed in the dream for a bit to determine how close he was by the volume of the music. Even in chases I found him pretty easy to escape. I'm having issues with Billy and spirit at the moment tbh. I feel like unless I'm using Meg and her lithe and sprint burst, it's easier just to stand still with Billy and just take a spanking and hook. Yeah he dont turn as easy as we do but he's insanely quick. It's an instant sigh if I'm against either one of those 2.
