Did the bloodpoint have no upper limit before the nurse chapter?

I don't remember what was right and the only thing I know is:
It was 500k then 1m, was there a period it didn't have upper limit?

There was a time where there wasn't a cap, they added it because cheaters could get unlimited bloodpoints and after this they would only gain 500k/1M.
