Why its so hard to guess the RE killer/survivor/map
I was pursuing the forums like the jockey I am and kept finding posts about which RE character someone wants in the game, and it got me thinking about why its so hard to pinpoint exactly who would get in.
I believe its hard to pinpoint who would get in for a variety of reasons;
Survivor(s) are hard to choose from, but the issue is that they have to not only make sense in a gameplay perspective, but also a lore perspective and fan perspective.
If they added Chris Redfield into the game, it would contrast with any future appearance he has in the series, as well as his lore of literally fighting boulders and winning.
Killer(s) are a little easier, but at the same time its hard to determine which one would make it in, based on gameplay, lore, and fanbase perception.
Sure, if they added Nemesis that'd be cool, but really, what is he other than a BOW? Would he drag people in with his tentacles like Deathslinger? Would he simply rush forwards and hit people with an extended lunge attack like Demo?
Map(s) are also difficult, less of for design but more of for the sheer amount of them. I do however hope its not an Umbrella underground lab, then it would just be another Hawkins.
You have to remember that even if we get everyone we want, its still completely possible that they're absolutely awful. So what if we get Nemesis but nobody plays them? So what if we get the Spencer Mansion but everybody hates it? So what if we get Leon but his perks are awful and his noises are too loud?
Its very difficult to pinpoint who and what could get in, I just hope whoever it is they don't screw it up.

You bring up some good points, I feel like no matter what, people will always try to find a negative. In this case of RE there is so much to choose from people will no matter what have something negative to say about this chapter when it comes out. For example we get Nemesis the most 'iconic' monster in RE but he comes out weak, not a lot of people, or if the killer is Jack Baker but he is very strong and decent, again people still won't be as happy because its not Nemesis or Mr.X. Not everyone is gonna get everything they want, they just need to learn to accept that, and besides, maybe its for the best that some of the most powerful villains of RE don't come in

Probably because there are 12 or more games and theres a wide options with limited space even with 2 survivors
I hope the killer likes stars

Just on topic of the lore perspective:
we do have Laurie and Michael Myers despite them being in many sequels to the original.
i think the Go to explanation for something like this is muliverse theory, which is already often used in DbD.
as to strength like Chris: we got David and Amanda/Susie. The actual physical strength of the character seems to be not that important as the killers will just be explained to be enhanced by the Entity to be stronger than any survivor.
