Has the hatch killer priority when closing the hatch been changed at all?

I remember when hatch closing first was a thing when the killer and survivor were stood on the hatch, the killer took priority and would close the hatch and, as far I knew, this was always the case. But recently, I've been trying to close hatch the same way I always have but the survivor jumps in first. Am I just standing on the hatch in bad positioning or has something been changed?

    I've noticed this too, but only in one game - in others I haven't had a chance to interact with hatch. I figured it was a bug, but after seeing this 'm not sure. Commenting to boost.

    I know my connection and fps is fine, so if anything it's bad positioning. I've seen other people stand more on top of the hatch so possibly standing too far on the edge gives survivors more time to jump in.

    Connection isn't an issue because as a killer you are blocking hatch hitbox for survivors by just standing still.

    I'm not aware of any changes to this mechanic, but it doesn't necessarilly mean it wasn't changed.
