If you look at the video covering all 60-something chases (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ca5XPVfY48), you will see that it's a different story.
On average, a chase only lasted around one minute to a minute and a half, not three minutes. And that is with an ability-less, perk-less killer on one of if not the strongest map for survivors in the game, with the survivors being able to recklessly use all of its resources in a single chase, and those survivor players being very experienced.
Cowshed is absolutely too survivor-sided. The main problem with the map (now that the main building has been addressed with the breakable walls) is the fact every single pallet spawn on it is safe. A bunch of those generic pallet tiles should be adjusted to only be semi-safe. (Personally a way I would find interesting to make safe pallet structures less safe is if there were ways to go over the structures at some points. That would create some interesting new gameplay.)
But other than that, this video is not indicative of much of anything. Killers do not play on the very worst maps every time, they don't play without perks or abilities, they don't play against survivors of this caliber very often, let alone 4 of them, and they play 1V4 matches, not 1V1. Otz wins some ~90% of his killer matches, including those on Cowshed, and that even as Trapper, one of the comparatively weaker killers in the game. If Otz should teach you anything, it's that if you think about and practice the game to try and actively improve, you can become good enough as a player to win the vast majority of your killer matches.

Well trapper is out from traps but how different with other killers. I mean you can loop all killers, maybe except Nurse and Spirit. Actually Spirit can not reject palets too, so you can loop her too here. So i can not see any different.
And also survivors was out from perks too. If they would have Dead Hard, loop would be more longer. That video confirms loops are so strong and you can keep killer busy for 3 gens and maybe for more. Gens are so fast and loops are so strong. That video shows only loop part but if there would be other survivors, gen would finish.

Every buff to solos is a buff to SWF.
Only way around it would be ingame voice chat. But people don´t like the idea.

Yeah, I don't really want to get yelled at for no reason by a salty teammate.

It's somewhat informative, but there are a lot of problems with this.
First, it's Cowshed. "Come 1v1 Cowshed" is a meme for a reason. The map is ridiculously survivor sided.
Second, he's playing Trapper without traps. I'd be more worried if 2000+ hr survivors didn't run him for at least 2 minutes on that map.
Third, I don't know if Otz was really thinking about what he was doing at all times, but he makes a ton of mistakes. Rotates survivors the wrong way at jungle gyms, zones incorrectly or doesn't zone at all before breaking pallets, etc. He could cut those chases down by maybe a minute if he played mistake free.

Ping system like apex would work fine

Mute button.

I think we already had this conversation. Voice chat is superior over ping system. In every single regard.

Ok, I legit did not think of that. Now I feel dumb.

People usually play the game and watch streamers. Its usually not one or the other.
Some watch for entertainment and I know a lot of people watch so they can learn from the best. I got a lot better with Hag after watching some Michi videos ^^
Another reason to watch streamers is to get a fresh perspective. I will see streamers use builds or play killers I haven't touched in awhile and be like 'oh that looks like fun' or 'that is an interesting load out. I will try that!'
I wasn't into watching streamer until I got into DBD. There are quite a few masters of the game and its nice to be able to watch and learn.
To OP, you are not wrong. A strong swf group can give the best killers a run for their money, however these are people at the top of the game and shouldn't be used as examples for balancing. For us normal folks a good killer player can get at least 2 red ranks per match.

Feels like 90% of them just follow them to regurgitate their opinions. A streamer can lose a match for blatantly obvious reasons/misplays and their fanbase will make a thousand excuses and come on here and cry about it.

The ping system has plenty of advantages
- No language barrier
- Easier access to people without headsets/mic
- Easier for people who don’t want to talk to strangers
- No bullying over a ping system compared to voice chat
So not every single regard

i mean its not just trapper. a lot of killers have very limited chases. pig, ghostface, wraith, myers(fast vaulting is not helpful vs these pallets), new weaker freddy, clown, plague without corrupt puke, Oni without demon form, Trickster to some extent, Legion. all these killers towards safe pallets all have to break safe pallets and watch as survivor just runs forward. its like nearly half the cast. whats ironic is that all the most of these killers i just listed are also all the killers that otz ranked between C-D in his tier-list. coincidence? I think not. safe loops are pretty bad design and their remedy which is bloodlust is not very good solution.

He didn't get bloodlust more than 2 time the entire video

Did you just imply that you can "have fun" in dead by daylight? Oh dear...
0 -
- could be solved by letting players choose what region/country/language they want to be matched with.
- who doesn´t has a mic or headset these days?
- people could make new friends by talking (doesn´t always apply)
- if the ping makes a sound, then repeatedly pinging (like in lol) could be annoying. A mute button would help.
What about communication with survivors from the other end of the map with visual blockers? Thats not possible with a ping system.
Anyway, thats a whole different discussion.
As i said, people believe what they want to believe and will ignore any kind of data that doesn´t fit their agenda. Just look at the DS stats the devs released. Instead of celebrating that the devs open up, they complain that the stats must be fake.

I liked my idea of a voice chat it goes with dbd lore of they cant speak only make noises so when you talk you make noises and your aura is revealed to everyone and the louder you are the further the range can be seen
This also fixes the language barrier
risk reward
keeps the user safe of racial attacks
Silent so annoying pings wont be a thing

- This could effect matchmaking and MMR and VPN’s make this useless
- Not many I’ll admit but it’s still worth noting
- A ping mute is something that would be added if needed

All of those survivors had the entire map full of pallets to use. 1v1s in cowshed entirely ignores resource management from the survivor team (pallets, health states, hook states). If a survivor does what those survivors did at the beginning of each match, all pallets will be gone by at most 4 minutes (considering the #1 result) IF the killer doesn't use his power at all and tunnels the strongest survivor in the opposite team.
That alone is a recipe for disaster.

I don´t think people use VPN as much as everyone thinks.
Screaming into my mic to glow in the dark seems like a terrible idea for my neighbors.
Anyway, we should go back to the topic.

This was just a straight up chase, with no use of powers or perks. Also with absolutely no need to conserve resources. If you're playing like that in actual games, then I don't know what to say.

'Usually a killer has time' HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I have 4 survivors to keep from doing gens. The act of kicking a gen takes ttoo much of the time i have. You honestly think a killer has time to go break walls? There were no other teammates in that video but think.... three minutes 3 survivors could EASILY do all 5 gens and power the exit gates. Anyone who thinks the killer has time hasnt played killer.
0 -
Well the 4 minute chase would have been enough for all gens + gate.
0 -
first of all a smart killer WOULD NEVER EVER commit for a cahse in a strong loop also trapper uses corrupt intervention to set traps you donyt play trapper like this everybody knows this. this post just shows taht you have no idea about how to play killer.
0 -
Damn i totally missed that comment.
On what rank does the Trapper have time to set up his traps? By the time you set up all your traps, you can greet the survivors at the exit gate.

You know, as soon as I saw this video, I knew this same discussion would pop up.
All the video showed is how good those Survivors are at looping, and how pallet RNG is wild at Cowshed. (Also, you know, Otz following through with the Meme.)
He was playing a Killer with no perks and not able to use his power. (Survivors also couldn't use perks, which also changes the game.)
If you want to see an example that's closer to what you might actually see in game, Dowsey did the same video, but could actually use powers and two perks.
It's almost like Killers have their powers to help make them stronger then the Survivors. 🤔

Speaking for myself it's not really any different from someone who likes basketball, football, etc watching games on TV. If you're able to play yourself, you can. If not, or don't feel like it, watching people play is also fun.

My question helps the game remain stressful for killers and prevents the developers from fixing that? Or am I misunderstanding you?
