So does anybody play Twins anymore

So before their nerf I would see them every now and then. Not particularly common but not extremely rare. Now I have yet to see one since the nerf. I wonder if they are one of the lowest picked killers. I'm still holding strong on them but I feel like the 5 second wait period has alot of people turned away from learning them

    I still play them.

Yeah, I used to love playing Twins besides their flaws. Now they just feel even more sluggish and less fun to play. Plus, Victor's buggy pounce not moving forward even out in the open, and going through survivors is frustrating.

I'd play them more if I found them more fun to go against. I try to avoid playing killers that I hate playing against when I play survivor.

I play them all the time and people over react to this nerf I played and they feel the same yes landing a pounce and waiting is annoying but there still the same nothings changed at first I hated them thought they were the worst killer in dbd but when trickster came out I changed my mind

Sadly yes. 3 Twins yesterday, very fun gameplay.

One of my most played killers these days by far even after the changes.

That said, they definitely did kill off quite a few of the Twins players (with what little there was already). Eating a DS every time you play well is flat out un-fun and very bad design.

Are they still good? Of course

Do they feel awful to play now? Absolutely

They really need to revert the change. The Twins issues are camping and holding Victor hostage, not slugging.

This, tbh. Obnoxious killers are killer I'll always try to avoid playing myself.

I wish I went against Twins. Gone against literally 4, ever, 2 of which were on release day. It's a shame because I know their power and what completely shuts Victor down, and I don't actually get to use that knowledge in favour of going against Legion #12.

This thread is how I learned that people play twins

I loved playing twins but after the last update they just feel too cracked out to me. I could care less out how they need to be played as I paid for the killer what I do care about is the quality and me feeling like I can do what I want with them. I don't get that feeling with them they are punished for existing in imo and I feel at this point we should all be refunded for buying them. They are so bad to me now I won't use them at all which makes me appreciate trickster more I guess which is also sad.

Did anyone even play them that much before?

After the third game I was about to suicide on first Hook against Twins. Really, they are just a pain to go against. I hate Victors giant Hitbox, his visual model can fly past me and I still get hit.

Like, they are a really creative Killer, but the Devs managed to ######### this Killer up so bad that it is weak and unfun to go against. Surprising how they managed this after releasing Blight, who is strong and fun to go against.

I would rather go against Stridor Spirit than against Twins. Luckily, I dont go against them that often, but 3 during one day was 4 Twins too much for that day.

I mained them beforehand (still do now) and I've seen/heard of others that played them. Also before the nerf I noticed people starting to pick them up and try them out.

I'm glad I have not seen them in over a week. Honestly a lot of people play them tediously, such as slugging people for the half match.

So you play Twins now? I recall you saying they were fairly weak some time ago.

  • Mister_Holdout
    Mister_Holdout Member Posts: 3,144

Yeah, I still like the Twins and I still play them.

I just wish the devs would revert that Victor nerf. No killer wants to wait five seconds before they can resume control of their character again.

I mained them before and still do. I still find them fun but god it's just such an unnecessary change that makes them so much more of a chore to play.

Billy had his add-ons nerfed. His power is basically the same.

Twins are no different. A two second cooldown on a successful down is not a major nerf.

  • Mister_Holdout
    Mister_Holdout Member Posts: 3,144

Good on you. I realized the Twins were good as soon as I saw that Victor could counter looping. Which means he can slug everyone once all the survivors are injured.

I don't play them much at all for much the same reason I don't like playing as Deathslinger: I dislike playing against them and don't want to hurt others' experiences playing the game. I also just don't find Twins very fun to play as; Deathslinger is at least fun for the killer.

Yeah you basically have to play them very different than other killers. Feels like you're playing a different game to me.

Playing the way the devs want you to play them is just extremely inefficient on time and simply non-viable. We however get around that bad time efficiency by being super time efficient with Victor. The time you save cutting out as many hooks, zooming around the map with Victors speed, and countering loops is tremendous.

There's also the bonus that so few people actually play the Twins that most people don't actually understand how to counter them because they've had so little experience facing them. A lot of their counter play is also the complete opposite of what you want to do against most killers, IE grouping, healing, and slowing the game down. If you cut off their snowball potential they are significantly weaker.

I played them recently, still as good as ever. Don't get why people say its weak, its fun

  • notstarboard
    notstarboard Member Posts: 3,903

If it's not a major change then why are you mad?

I don't see how either character is punished for using their power effectively. Twins are rewarded for using their power effectively by getting a down. The stun is there to give survivors a chance to prevent a snowball because Victor is too fast to do much about in a chase unless you're on a perfect tile. Your only good option is to heal before he shows up.

I don't see how this is any different than something like Bubba's Chainsaw cooldown.

    gentacle Member Posts: 260

Those of us left are merely annoyed at the DS for every successful Victor pounce. No one plays legion and goes "man, i wish I was stunned for 7 seconds after using my power." Or maybe they do. Playing killer can feel somewhat masochistic at times for some hehe.

Honestly, it feels downright mean spirited and ruins the flow of a successful down and switch because now it's even more time efficient to just slug because you can't even make up lost time with Charlotte while Victor is out of play. People still don't kick Victor anyway lol.

    CoalTower Member Posts: 1,730

I do! The nerf didn't really make them weaker, just less fun to play.

  • SunderMun
    SunderMun Member Posts: 2,789

While I agree, it wasn't the right nerf. The issue is the lack of punishment for messing up despite it being ridiculously easy to hit pounces; (compare this to Legion, for example) not the fact they can keep going when successful.

  • notstarboard
    notstarboard Member Posts: 3,903

Idk, I liked playing as Billy alright before and the charge bar changed nothing. I don't really enjoy playing as Twins and the change to Victor didn't change that either. It was a three second stun before, so bumping that up to five seconds really isn't that big of a deal.

I would be happy for Victor to have a big cooldown between uses (like Oni), or a limited turning radius (like Blight), or much slower movement speed (Nurse), or a terror radius (like all three), but the fact remains that he doesn't. I don't think the 5 second cooldown is the best possible change - not at all - but I think the Twins have enough wrong with them right now that they're in borderline full rework territory. As a bandaid, I really don't mind it.

Nurse and Blight are both punished for using their powers if a few seconds of extra fatigue is the definition we're using for "punishment". Hell, you could even argue that the three second standard weapon wipe is punishment for landing an M1. I wouldn't consider any of this punishment. Fatigues exist to balance out a strong power, just like cooldowns for perks with strong effects. Sometimes they're fun and sometimes they're not, but the function is just to maintain balance. If the killer is not fun to play as or against, then change them. The cooldown is not a fundamentally poor design decision.

Bubba's tantrum is exactly 5 seconds by default, so I think it's a good comparison. If I hit a survivor through a window, bump the window, and start a tantrum, or intentionally bump into a locker and hit a survivor who mistimes the exit, am I being punished for using my power? Certainly not. The mechanic just exists to give some counterplay to survivors and raise Bubba's skill floor a bit. In both cases the clear reward is getting a down, and that easily outweighs the inconvenience of a five-second stun.

I don't. They feel awful to play. Eat a DS when you down someone, switch to Charlotte, walk all the way over just to pick up. It's ridiculously sluggish gameplay.

Not if you slug everyone with Victor and use Deerstalker to collect your prizes 😉

I just played a match and the 2s difference is barely noticeable... I am not saying the change was good or deserved but so far they don't feel weird.

  • El_Gingero
    El_Gingero Member Posts: 1,147

The 5 second stun every time I successfully down someone is just clunky and tedious, and knowing the change was unnecessary and poorly conceived just exacerbates the issue. Still a cool killer, but really annoying to play, and for absolutely no reason.

I played them 4 days ago, for the first time ever.

Did my adept on them (got Hawkins by rng). Didn't camp or overly slug, just downed someone and went for another survivor to hang Victor onto. They were potatoes tough.

Will have to try and get that achievement where I need to down them with my little son... I MEANT BROTHER!!! Still hanging to survivors when I down then.

Dunno how I will do it, as it seems to be so easy to get Victor off before I even reach them.

  • ChurchofPig

    TruffleTurtle Member Posts: 614

He is but 4k slugging everyone when they are injured is just boring to me. Sure sometimes it just happens if they r dumb but I try not to intentionally do it cuz that's just not my playstyle with them

  • Unifall
    Unifall Member Posts: 747

I've played a couple of rounds with them and you definitely feel the nerf. They're not the weakest killer but not that great either maybe below average.

  • Mister_Holdout
    Mister_Holdout Member Posts: 3,144

You didn't really explain how it's boring. While slugging with Victor, you have to use your pounce skills, game awareness skills, and prediction skills.

All of those skills are fun to put into practice.

  • TruffleTurtle
    TruffleTurtle Member Posts: 614

I wasn't trying to say it's an overall boring strategy. I'm just saying it's boring to me. All you do is injure people and then use victor for the rest of the match to slug everyone. It's nice using victor but I'd rather just not do that because it leads to shorter games and I find drawn out games to usually be more interesting

  • TruffleTurtle
    TruffleTurtle Member Posts: 614

Also part of me would feel bad cuz ik I'd hate getting a match like that where I'm slugged for 3+ minutes while everyone avoids victor.

since the nerf, no. they feel very slow and clunky. used to love them, played them a ton for several months, got very good at them, and still do enjoy them, but having to feel so slow every time I get a down gets boring.

    Me.

I picked them up before the nerf. Yeah its awkward to use victor a little bit now but I'm still 4king nearly every game at red rank without camping or slugging (without them being grouped up injured).

    theplaggg Member Posts: 267

It adds up the more you play them. The Twins can be really strong but this nerf should be reverted. Its doesnt really make them weaker but just clunky to play. Waiting 5 seconds on each down as Victor every match gets really annoying.
