Newer RE killer because

Well, hear me out. Capcom seems to be pushing the newer characters in the latest entries. If I am not mistaken, the Winters are going to be a trilogy. So next game will be focused on one of them. (Trying to avoid spoilers). However, (haven't played 8) the only connection to the old RE universe in 7, is Redfield at the end and bthe DLC.

It's a design decision intentionally saying, 'we acknowledge the old but are here with the new'.

With that reasoning, i beleive the killer will be from either 7 or 8. Or 2 killers, one old and one new. Promote where they want the franchise to go.

As far the iconic the Coté mentioned. That's where the classic characters come in the form of survivors. They will be older characters. I mean, we don't really know what Ethan looks like, and Mia....well let's just say I chose to save Zoe.

All in all i think, new killer. Old survivor.

That would be honestly the best move, please both old and new fans at the same time. Newer fans wont know Nemesis, but older fans wouldnt appreciate a newer killer like Dimitrescu(I mean, really, they hyped a lot of media around her, why hype so much around her if she only appears rarily compared to Heisenberg(who is quite amazing too) or Miranda? It would make sense if she was gonna join DBD aswell). Both Nemesis and Dimitrescu make sense. The dimitrescu daughters only make sense assuming the "5" is a big hint.

I feel like they would have said this already if that were the case to extra hype us.

Two of the devs referred to Iconic characters, re7 and re8 are too recent to hit that status yet, maybe a map from one of the newer games?

Nah, they will put characters from RE2 and RE3. Save this comment.

I think that RE7 is one of the greatest games ever made but it's hardly iconic, and the new game is...well, not only new, but from the story I spoiled myself on, stupid as well.

We'll be getting Jill and Chris, Leon and Claire, or some combination thereof. There's no way to celebrate RE's 25th anniversary without including at least one of those characters. Preferably Jill or Chris, since they were there from the start. The killer could be anyone from any of the entries I guess, it really doesn't matter as much. Many of the RE killers are pretty similar with the exception of Boobs McGee.

I feel the really iconic parts of re are the playable characters. Which is why i think they will be the new survivors. I really don't see how to make Ethan a survivor since (at least in 7) we dont know what he looks like.

I strongly suspect 2 killers. I just feel like Capcom wants to promote the new age of resident evil.

I agree with you and the others that having two killers (and two survivors also) would be a great way to celebrate both RE's anniversary, DBD's anniversary, and also satisfy both camps. I played the first few REs but then dropped out until 7, which I ######### adore (though, while it pains me to say it, I don't really see Ethan OR Jack fitting into the game very well). Meanwhile there are newer fans who only came around with 4, or perhaps even 7, and most of the older characters will be lost on them.

I know this isn't a thread asking for who we want but just to wrap up I personally would like Jill and Chris and Nemesis and Mr. X. Though Leon and Claire are almost as iconic, if not just as much so, as Jill and Chris are. It's hard to narrow it down to just a couple of characters when several of them are so integral to the series and have been for so many years.

    Iconic: "widely recognized and well-established"

RE7 and RE8 are both iconic games. Time has nothing to do with a game being iconic. RE is an iconic series. Lady D's shadow is recognisable enough for people to assume Resident Evil. Lady D was an icon before release.

So no, referring to an iconic character doesnt exclude RE7 or RE8.
