I don't wanna be negative but that new autoban system is worrying.

OK THANK YOU

Why get the community riled up, shouldn't have announced it with no details
21 -
Don't you guys remember when Tru3 got hacked and was banned for 72 hours? So you had to deactivate the whole disconnect penalty because people in the community could just ban whoever they want?
You don't see this happening again with a community led auto-ban system? LMFAO
26 -
Why are you trying to reassure us by saying that it's not live yet instead of saying that it won't be abusable?
No one here is complaining because it's not live yet. Everyone here is worried that it will be abused and result in invalid bans.
19 -
i legit have a friend that tries to report people for camping and tunneling because he sees it as "unsportsmanlike". i keep having to explain to him over and over again what the game actually means when it says "unsportsmanlike".
really need the report system to be fully overhauled before this goes through, otherwise... yeah...

You’re being extremely naive if you think people won’t file unwarranted reports. Here, an example of how mature the DBD community is when it comes to reporting: https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/7hi7hz/xbox_reputation_system/
And this is just one example. Google “dead by daylight Xbox reputation” and you’ll find many similar posts.

All I know is that I play "immersively" I guess - that is, I enjoy playing stealthy and trying to accomplish various objectives and challenges while avoiding the killer as much as possible - and a lot of killers, and even some fellow survivors, can't stand that. They assume that if they don't see you much during the game, you must be hiding and not contributing. I really don't want to get banned for playing the game properly but less aggressively.
I don't know if the developers will see any more of this thread since they've already posted in it but you guys really do need to be aware how incredibly petty many, many players are, how many of them have claimed to have reported people for the silliest of things. A more responsive ban and kudos system is GOOD - but please take your time, observe this community, lurk these forums, and make sure that you have a good understanding of how many people would like to abuse such a system if they were allowed to do so.
I trust you guys. But please be careful about this.

With how well the chat filter works (it doesn't) I don't think we should sit tight. Many of us don't have confidence BHVR developers are going to be able to implement this in a way that doesn't let it be abused and me personally, feels like is a waste of time for BHVR to even work on. Especially since they have stated how long ago they were working on console optimization and MMR which aren't in the game yet. Maybe you could take this feedback to the team before the commit too many resources creating something the community doesn't really want.
4 -
We definitely understand the concerns, but we also wanted to clear up some of the confusion around this, too. I saw some people worried that it was already live! ❤️
As mentioned, the feature is still being developed, so we don't have any more concrete info for you all at this time. That said, rest assured we're aware of everyone's concerns and will do all we can to ensure that this will not be abused!
10 -
This is why any type of auto-ban is a bad idea.
8 -
We do have different teams working on different features, so the team that is working on autobans would not necessarily be the same team that works on console optimization! That said, we will be bringing up the concerns with autobans to the team. ❤️
7 -
Please, just scrap the idea. Look at the negative effect DBD has had on people’s Xbox reputation in the past, there are threads about it on this forum - people get reported over and over for no reason.
The immature player base for this game will absolutely, 100% report people in-game for frivolous reasons.
9 -
We aren't stupid so I don't know why we always get the condescending, default response of "we have different teams working on different features". Just because there are different teams doesn't mean they aren't a waste of a resource that could be committed to other aspects of the game that forum members constantly bring up, bug fixes, balancing, optimization.
Thank you for giving the feedback to the team.
13 -
You guys are clueless by announcing it then saying this. dont announce it then..........
7 -
I just don't see how an automated system couldn't eventually be figured out and gamed, no matter how careful and intelligent the design behind it is. If people learn that reporting players for doing things they don't like works (even if 'works' means 500 different people have to do it), they're going to do it in much greater numbers, and people that camp/tunnel/slug/tbag/click/play meta killers/use meta perks are going to be at high risk.
This feels very dangerous and I can't see how it couldn't be abused. Even a system that works 99.9% of the time and gets innocent players 0.1% of the time is an abject failure. For something like this, it has to be flawless, or always err on the side of letting bad eggs go.
5 -
Let's just be damn honest here. most of us can get quite salty (killers and survivors)
most of us have our own view of how the game should be played and what is unfair. with this salty community, making an auto ban system based on volume of reports is the most ridiculous idea. you are basically giving players the power to vote somebody they might not like, but who is not breaking the rules, out of the game. stop it now please...
6 -
Definitely didn't mean to sound condescending with that, so I'm terribly sorry if it did! ❤️
What I was trying to clarify was that these different teams often have different skillsets, which means they aren't as interchangeable as some may think. That's why some features and changes may take much longer than others, as well! Someone that worked on one thing is most likely not the same person that does bug fixes, balancing or works on console optimizations.
I know that doesn't give you guys a super concrete answer, but I hope it does give at least a little more insight. ❤️
Thanks for taking the time to write all of your concerns - they are on our radar and are being taken into consideration when developing this feature. We'll be bringing it to the team in our next report today, too!
13 -
Sorry, but I'm not buying this either. Are you telling me that you hired these people specifically for creating this auto ban feature and once it is implemented you are going to lay them off? I guess that is one way to run a business. And them having a specific skill set still does not mean they are not a wasted resource. For example, instead of hiring developers that only know how to create auto ban systems, you could have used that money to hire more developers to fix bugs, balancing or optimization.
Yes, I know, you and I are not part of the leadership team that makes these decisions, but please don't try to placate me with what is in my opinion b.s.
8 -
Because I win, and people are salty.
6 -
Maybe hold the hysteria and hyperbole until there is actual information out there on how the system will work.
6 -
I agree with this. Geez people are wound up tight.
HOWEVER, I find it hard to believe that nobody at Bhvr could have anticipated this kind of reaction with such little information released. I don't think they should have mentioned the new system at all if they weren't prepared with some concrete information.
So, yes everybody needs to chill out. But at the same time.. Bhvr, you've been at this for 5 years now. You can do better.
8 -
because we've seen people already ready to do it.
4 -
As soon as I heard it mentioned I knew with 100% certainty that the forums would be full of hysteria and hyperbole. It's not surprising since that is the general mentality of a lot of posters on these forums. BHVR should have held off on announcing it until the system was completed and had been tested thoroughly internally. If they had announced it with specifics the hysteria would have been lessened...not completely gone.
4 -
If it makes you feel any better when I moderated the THQ forums it was always like this whenever an announcement of any kind was made. Not specific enough, too little too late, jumping to conclusions, etc.
Everyone should just relax and allow them to do their jobs. We can present our concerns without arguing with them. The whole point is that we don't like toxic people right? We should do what we can to show that we don't belong to that group ourselves.
1 -
Agreed but auto ban in this game dosent work especially when people dont play how you want them to the only thing I could see to working in is hacking because its pretty obvious when someone's hacking
2 -
Well unless BHVR gets a stroke and bannes ppl for literally no reason LUL
1 -
No, that's definitely not the case! ❤️
To clarify, what I mean is that different features may require knowledge of different programming languages, software or actual experience that goes into the job. For instance, not every game designer is a well-versed programmer! While that fact is obvious to many, it's still worth mentioning, since many people hop on to read these comments, and we can't expect everyone to know exactly how game dev works. ☺️
That said, hiring more people to do one specific job doesn't always bring in better results either. Obviously, I can't speak to how teams are organized and hired, but I do know that it's usually not as simple as moving over people from one feature/project to another!
Anyway, I'm definitely not the person that has all the answers, but again, hope this gives a tiny bit more insight into things. ❤️
Hope you guys have a fantastic day ahead, and once again, we'll let you know when we have any more info we can share! 😊

Yeah I think this is bad idea at least if it's being developed in the way it was presented, and the way everyone is assuming. You will have people who lose report mainly killers lets be honest. Of things like camping and tunneling, and even for so what people believe is toxic. Which is something I think we can all agree should not be something killers should be banned for. I hope it's things like this are being taken into consideration.
3 -
is sad that the kind of responses we are getting are the usual customer support responses that not only no one cares also doesnt help at all (they never did), i would appreciate something like a realistic response but of course we wont get that also there is no need to develop something like this
7 -
Wait console optimization?
1 -
Soooo let me sum up the main reasons I got supposedly reported (according to the one reporting) so far:
-I didn't unhook someone being facecamped by a Leatherface
-I'm a "cheater" because I can see through walls and know survivors position... with scratched mirror Myers.
-I dared to use NOED
-I dared to use Barbecue&Chili
-When I arrived at the entrance of the shower rooms on the map "The Game" as Doctor (gen not done yet) I spent about 20 seconds shocking the 3 survivors who were stuck in it before hitting them. It was supposedly an abuse and reportable if I were to trust the salty SWF guys. (no I don't believe them)
-I opened the exit gate completely instead of just 99%. The killer with NOED was just staring at me menacingly while casually walking towards me but yeah.
I don't remember the other reasons but they're all the same kind of things. So you want to implement a kind of auto-ban system based on reports? With this kind of salty community reporting anything they don't like and having not the slightest idea about what's actually forbidden and what's not?
That's the worst idea you could ever had... after the Easy Anti-Cheat which doesn't work on cheaters and even banned a few people because they dared to lag (which was interpreted as speedhack/teleportation apparently). Yeaaaaah.... you should have your team work on a REAL anti-cheat system instead of making them work on this REAAAALLY bad idea.
8 -
I got one for teleporting out of the basement... as nurse
another for crossmap as huntress I decided to play freddy I
2 -
I kind of zoned out of the stream when they announced this. They mentioned toxic players in one sentence then mentioned the autoban in the next. This is going to considerably increase toxic reports, how are non streamers able to support their claim of fair play without toxicity, the ps5 does not have enough ssd to save all play sessions throughout the week.
This will backfire terribly and seriously hope they rethink this.

I got told i was going to be reported cause i blinded him at pallys... or i decided to not kill everyone at the end cause they came up to me knowing they were done for so im was like fine go....
but yah this is a dumb idea . it could be a good diea only if a a lot reports came in and then the so person was being "WATCHED by a real person on their game play and who ever was in charge or watching says okay yah this person is abuseing so and so and a ban." but not a oh this rank 8 got reported by salty rank 1s for killing them or this killer didnt kill so and so, so report and now they have 20 reports it ban them.
but i will have the urge to report killers that are like yah go open that door ill will SO LET YOU GO, but i wont and just watch you die to the end game or keep downing you and nodding...
2 -
LMAO. I guess we have to wait and see how it actually works, but imagine going on stream and being like, "Good news, everyone, soon you'll get banned automatically!"
6 -
As it is right now, do any of the staff actually read the reports? Because it seems like some of these problems could be solved if they just had people reading the actual reports, instead of implementing an auto ban system that is absolutely going to blow up in their faces.
5 -
This content has been removed.
-
Just look at CoD Warzone with shadow bans. People abuse the reporting system. Just go look on YouTube.
5 -
I'm all for it, it sounds great, a system that can ban toxic behavior. I hope it also tracks people who try to abuse the auto ban system, and bans them too. People need to stop being dicks to each other.
1 -
Wait wait...I think we finally have something the killer and survivor mains agree on....the auto ban system will be complete #########.
7 -
Ok so like how do we report the people who abuse this auto ban system? We're not going to know who's abusing the system. This kind of makes me scared to stream now...
4 -
Everyone who plays at least 10 matches per day is gonna get banned with this system, its a matter of time not a matter of why.
9 -
What do you consider toxic behavior?
0 -
If it works as good as the filter and the first MMR iteration I guarantee 50% of the playerbase is going to be banned in less than an hour, Im even willing to bet some people will patch the game, boot it up for the first time after the system goes online and they are going to be banned already.
4 -
Not to be rude, but this is the exact reason why people diss and badmouth BHVR all the time. Lack of communication. If it's still a work on progress, tell us. If you know how it's going to work, but want it to be a surprise, still tell us. We can give our feedback, and if necessary, you guys can make the proper changes.
3 -
They are valid, because they are supported by the devs. However, they are most certainly not necessary.
1 -
I’m worried because they can’t figure out hackers. Look at this guy I follow on YouTube. https://youtu.be/l7T9CPulFig
He could easily get auto banned for harassment even though he didn’t do anything
1 -
Well, since the devs evidently do jack all about reports, they decided to make a program to do it for them. Truth be told, imagine manually going through all the BS reports salty players send out. I'll presume an account will just get pinged after a certain amount of reports within an X amount of time and then file through it.
I would like them to also review players that have a high volume of reports going out, especially if/when an autoban system takes place.

Will BHVR include in the system oversight of high volumes of reports coming from individuals and respond to their activities appropriately?

Honestly speaking, if you as a killer camp and tunnel, you deserve a ban since you ruin other's fun with this kind of unsportsmanship during the game.
