I don't wanna be negative but that new autoban system is worrying.
I don't trust it at all. Knowing the community it's going to be really abused because of how petty and selfish we can be. Imagine in a swf everyone reports the killer for camping pr tunneling or if the killer reports every survivor for using hatch or key or flash light blinding them.
I'm all for them limiting and reducing toxicity but this seems like it can bring about more toxicity. What do you think?

it is very scary. it will be too easily abused. the bans will be in the hands of the toxic.
68 -
Right. If they can't even get a simple chat filter to work and the anti-cheat just doesn't protect the game from hackers whatsoever then I can't see how they're gonna make a functioning auto-ban system... kinda worrying
35 -
I am gonna be banned.
Not even joking, if this goes through I will be banned.
57 -
I am reporting you because you played well, enjoy with ban.
56 -
It's a BAD IDEA. Survivors already report for stupid BS like 'He tunneled!" 'He camped!' 'He played Plague!' 'He's a Freddy main!'
Or people who assume someone HAS to be cheating because they, themselves, are clearly undiscovered gods of the game and NO ONE can ever beat THEM!
Imagine if 2-4 Survivors spam that report function on a Killer per match; the Killer would get shafted by the auto-ban system.
34 -
I can't wait for it, I trust that it'll be fine and work as intended.
4 -
Yeah, they're basically saying "We don't want to spend money on competent community management, so we're just going to put the onus on players instead."
This is really bad. I've been falsely reported for "wall hacks" so many times in the past on Nurse because I'm good at the character. This is absolutely not the community to deploy this type of system on.
32 -
I'll be shitting my pants when I get a 4k everytime
20 -
This is going to backfire BIG TIME. Toxic players can just band together to report someone they don’t like even if that person is just playing the game normally.
28 -
You killed me, i am reporting you. Enjoy with your ban now.
I am 1000 iq survivor, that was imposible to catch me. You are hacker.
23 -
Well, once that starts happening, and it will-the survivors will also come here complaining the queue times are insane-not making the connection they drove out the killers they need to get a match going....
7 -
The days of literally every dbd streamer are now numbered. I hate it so much.
13 -
You win a game vs swf? Enjoy your 4 reports
25 -
We need a dev to come into these threads and assure us it does not work as it seems to work. Because, as of right now, it sounds like salty players can just report for anything and, if enough people do that, innocent players are shafted.
20 -
ahem
We have no information about how it's going to work. Don't panic until they release the actual details of the system.
3 -
Yes, we need someone to give us details because for now, it seems like very weird.
4 -
You should know at this point that names mean nothing to BHVR. They haven't described any details about it, and there's really nothing to worry about (because there's nothing we know).
1 -
Yep and everyone's still going to support it because well I don't know why
1 -
I have an idea. Maybe killers should stop camping/tunneling and they won’t be reported. It’s a toxic strat to begin with that doesn’t need to be in the game at all and is not needed to 4K. Killers use these strats to secure a kill because they are so bad they can’t get a kill otherwise.
6 -
You are the problem. Those are not bannable strategies, do not abuse this awful idea of a system.
30 -
I don't care how toxic you THINK it is; IT. IS. NOT. REPORTABLE.

Can someone tell me what they have done to the reporting system? I haven't been able to see the live 😥
1 -
Salt + auto ban = longer ques
They're already prepping the ai to replace killers
9 -
we didn't get details but it sound like somebody will get banned for being reported enough.
9 -
Thanks!!
Now I'll be permabanned by SWF 🙂
8 -
I am all for reporting cheaters that use lag switching with No Mither/Soulguard or abnormal killer behavior.
This is game 4vs1 though, If a killer reports 1 survivor, it won't do much where as survivors can report the killer 4 times.
7 -
Welp, playing killer will result in players being banned under a system like they described.
3 -
So I'm going to assume that you're going to be one of the trash cans that'll abuse the report system.
I've had people report me for camping when I wasn't and for tunneling when they ran towards me. So you're comment about "killers should stop famping/tunneling and they won't be reported" doesn't do anything.
26 -
Hmm if this is the case then. The devs better be watching

"... as with any game, sadly you'll experience some toxicity. What we're working on for this is the auto-ban feature. So at the end of every match in the tally screen you know there's this option where you can report a player for some negative behaviour, applaud them for doing something well, and right now this is our customer support team that is looking over it manually. What we're doing with this change is this is going to an automated system if players receive a certain amount of negative reports we are going to take action and we're going to let you know that your report is actually having an effect on this and we're going to thank you for it."
I don't think I've seen an exact transcript of what was said on the stream yet, so here it is for ya.
I think they're selling the 'auto' part of this a little too hard. It sounds to me like they had to manually just look at the records for patterns before and now they will have something that notifies support when someone has a lot of bans.
Also, it will only be tied to end of match, so I wouldn't be too afraid of mass reporting as you'd have to do it at the end of each match.
Definitely wait and see on this one but they're going to be careful of their business model, I'm sure.

I don't care what a MOD or a DEV who makes this game says, I decide what should be punishable.
It's my game now.
Give me the keys.
Give me the keys BHVR, it's my game now.

Camping and Tunneling should not be a 'thing to get used to'. they are never necessary, they are just ego-wanking from skillless braggarts and are only still there because it's fiddly to get the game mechanics to punish them directly.
2 -
Echo from a post of the future yet to come:
"Played a few matches as Clown, Plague, and Legion, Didn't win a single match... Why am I getting banned?"
You guys can quote me when this happens!
12 -
Actually, there are many times where camping and tunneling are valid tactics than can turn a loss into a win.
Just because you don't like it, does not mean they are bad, toxic, or the player is 'skilless'. That's just whining from Survivors who lost to it.

We know that the number of reports is so high that an automated system is needed.
This is also all the information we need to confirm that an auto-ban system is a terrible idea.
Let's assume that all (or most) of the reports being made are valid. That is, someone broke the game rules and was reported for it. In that case the person will be banned. If a valid report does not result in a ban then there is no need for a report system of any kind and we do not need an auto-ban system (or any report system for that matter).
A banned person can't be reported again until their ban expires. That means, even if you have a high value of reports, so high that you need an automated system, the number of valid reports will decrease as you work through them because players who break the rules are being banned which stops them from playing. The only way for the number of valid reports to stay the same or increase is if new players buy the game and immediately break the rules, which generates more valid reports.
Players who did not previously break the rules but start doing that will of course also be banned, so the number of "old" players who generate valid reports (= break the rules and get reported) will decrease over time.
Therefore, over time, the number of players breaking the rules will decrease, and that also means that the number of reports is going down to a level where you can handle the reports manually. However, this is not the case of there is a high / constant number of invalid reports.
In that case someone is handling the reports manually, banning people for valid reports, but the overall number of reports does not decrease significantly because players are making invalid reports.
That means: If there are too many reports to handle manually then a large amount of them must be invalid. If you now implement an auto-ban system then players will be banned based on invalid reports.
This is obviously a terrible idea.
6 -
They are never valid tactics. I am a rank 3 killer and have never had to do either of those things yet I can still consistently get 3ks. Unlike most killer players I don’t expect a 4K every match since a normal game should be 2 escapes and 2 deaths.
1 -
there isn't a single occasion where they'd be valid. or are you going to lose a vital organ if you don't win every match?
1 -
Everytime AND ANYTIME You give players of a video game tools that are administrative you can guarantee those tools will be abused.
10 -
Ok everyone, listen up! As a long time Freddy main I suppose I am going down. Worry not for me though, as soon I will be joining Dead by Daylight's heaven with Old Freddy and Old Billy.
Let me know if you wish to send your regards to someone or something and I will be happy to deliver the message!
10 -
I think it'll be fine, from how they described it, if you get enough down votes, the team will then look into that player. As long as the team are good with their reviews, there shouldn't be much of an issue.
1 -
I'm boutta get Thanos snapped into ban limbo. For not being toxic either.
I really hope the devs thought this through.
5 -
Yeah i would prefer we don't go down the road Xbox was on.
11 -
I see, so basically me trying to win is wrong, huh? Oh, I'm sorry! I was not aware that only the upper class Survivors are allowed their 16 (4 each) meta perks, SWF, and voice comms.
But a Killer using tools IN THE GAME to try winning is toxic and try hard and 'why are you sweating to win?', yes?
Typical Survivor entitlement; Killers need to follow BS fake rules or they are tryhards. While Survivors sit on 16 perks and SWF and are now eager to abuse a report system to enforce their fake rules.
11 -
My vision on this ban system is that it's more like a DC penalty if you get consistent enough reports. Because lets be honest, people who will report 90% of the players they play against will obviously not weigh as much as players who only report once every 20 matches.
The system will definitely start ignoring spammers. Let alone that it will definitely compare you to the average player in terms of reports and it will look at the timespan between games.
It's not like this system will be using player input to actively ban people, it will use player input to help filter.

My guess is that it will flag an account after a certain number of reports, to be looked at by a human for a ban.
My HOPE is that people who abuse this system with fake reports will face bans, themselves.
13 -
Whats the point playing this game anymore?
outplay somebody no matter what side your playing as = REPORTS OFF EVERYBODY
wake up next day looking forward to gaming, ohh a ban...... great!
What happened to you BHVR?
4 -
This is really bad this well probably make me quite dbd 😢
I use a flash lite
3 -
That would be an ideal system. I imagine the report system, currently, is a mess of reports that shouldn't be made (like a cheating report on an all-seeing Wraith from someone who doesn't notice/understand the add-on for example) mixed in with reports that actually should be made (and we won't go into the uselessness of console reporting). If someone has been manually having to go through ALL of those, anything that can free up that time would be a good idea.
If there's not a real person reviewing reports during some part of the process, though, to make sure that it's not just people with sour grapes making reports over nothing, then there's a potential for disaster. I'd like to trust BHVR understands this ... but some of the things I've seen since I started playing the game makes me understandly nervous about that. 🤞

Hey everyone!
Thanks for leaving us your comments. Just to confirm, the autoban changes are not live yet. We will be announcing more details closer to the date they go live! This feature is still being developed, so please sit tight until we are able to share more info about this. ❤️

I'll just repeat what I said on another thread:
They already clearly stated VOLUME of reports is the key. So it won't be possible to grief anyone with this. Four reports isn't going to hit you with a ban - but forty reports might, and one hundred reports probably will. Basically, if you aren't a toxic jerk, you have nothing to worry about. If you ARE worried about this announcement? You may want to ask yourself why.
