The grind is so depressing, guys

I've been playing a lot of Knockout City and Fall Guys the past few weeks -- very different games from this, but fun and addictive because it feels like you're always just a couple of matches away from cool cosmetics. Then I return to DBD to grind the rift...

Picked up a killer challenge worth 3 shards that requires 6 kills.

  • First match: 2 kills and 1 DC that the challenge counted as a kill, so 3 kills for me.
  • Second match: Tried to do a daily, got 0 kills and failed the daily.
  • Third match: 2 kills, Entity Displeased.
  • Fourth match: 2 DCs, and the remaining survivors didn't seem great. I felt bad, and I let them finish the last gens and leave, figuring I already had my last kill from the DCs. Then, I got to the tally screen and saw that the challenge didn't count either DC this time, even though it counted one in the first match.

So, my options were to grind 5 matches or kill two survivors who got abandoned and didn't know how to chase. All for less than 1/3 of the shards I need to progress one level in the rift. :(
