"Spirit has no counters" LMAO
Yes she has, and it's a really helpful perk against most killers, It's called "Fixated"
Here's an example against a rank 1 Spirit
Please feel free to share any other counterplays against her to help survivors who think she's OP
EDIT: Please note there ARE really good spirits out there who can outplay this, BUT, most games against a Spirit, even against rank 1s, this is going to work. "please prove it by accepting scottjund challenge", ahm... MOST spirits are NOT as good as him... just saying...

Oh no, I hope you're prepared for an onslaught. Unless I just got baited.
Either way, you're saying Spirit's counter is a perk, which is bad design, especially since Fixated is a DLC perk. Not to mention your "counter" in this game is doing a juke that works on literally any Killer.
7 -
please prove it by accepting scottjund challenge.
20 -
Exactly my point, it works on any killer. And you can actually use it the same way I did in the vid when she phases towards you, works every time.
The only downside I do see here is the one you mentioned, it's a DLC perk.
0 -
I guess you've been out of the loop lately.
The argument is no (meaningful) counterplays, not counters.
And Iron Will with Lucky Break are better than Fixated for that.
11 -
IIRC he shelved the challenge due to hundreds of requests.
0 -
If you're bothering pretending a perk is a counter, why not use Iron Will/Lucky Break?
4 -
Me I please know a bit more about this? I do not know what you're talking about. And btw, yes, there are some REALLY good Spirit players out there, but this "Fixated" strat usually works 8/10 times. I'm not stating this as a rule, but more as an "it is possible"
0 -
The wave of survivors main is coming..
8 -
Because most Spirits you face even at rank 1 are as good as Scott right?
6 -
Cause I'm not wasting 2 perk slots for 1 killer, and fixated has helped me against most killers. 1 perk
0 -
MUAHAHAHAHA. I know, this was kind of a bait, hehehe
0 -
Thank you
1 -
yep
0 -
Factually just not true.
4 -
then try playing at SEA
0 -
Yes, so it's not a Spirit counter, nor is it a counter at all. You can get unlucky and the Killer stands still or swings early.
The whole "spirit not having counters" kerfuffle comes from the fact that it's hardly interactive from the Survivor's pov during a chase. When she's phasing, you practically have to guess where she's gonna appear, and so does she sometimes. If you're injured and don't have Iron Will, forget about it. Try everything you can. In the end, whether or not you survive solely depends on how well the Killer plays.
So yes, blind the Spirit and juke her. Maybe it'll work once or twice but not everyone is running flashlights nor are all Spirits dumb enough to fall for that trick more than twice.
5 -
Just don't waste your time, you're trying to argue against one of those people who say "if you can't beat the best player then that's not true".
4 -
Fixated, lucky break, iron will. Good build against most any killer but it is gg ez against spirit.
2 -
Just drop every pallet on the first chase. Boom, countered.
2 -
You mean like zubat did? Scott just quit 30 seconds into that video lol
1 -
actually why I'm wasting time explaining this. I used to main spirit, in pools majority player said spirit cant be countered, even tournament player said that and most of streamer.
but suddenly quite bit people show spirit can be countered by showing dubious clip, wow even when i'm standing still sometimes killer didnt see me and it can be countered.
news : killer can be countered by standing still
1 -
I've been using Fixated with Iron Will lately and it works great against everyone. You break line of sight, you start walking, they lose you.
I love it.
0 -
You don't drop SAFE pallets on the first chase, nor when you're not injured. Just saying...
Non safe pallets actually don't matter if they're dropped
0 -
oh you mean by using iron will ? as stated you dont use iron will since it can be countered by stridor
1 -
But that clip had nothing to do with you fighting her phasing at all. Additionally I'm not sure what fixated really did for you there?
3 -
Drop
Every
Pallet
1 -
I'm sorry, but the clip I showed actually requires experience, and it can be used against most killers, people tend to forget there are generalized strats that work regardless of the killer's power
0 -
you do know that video was a joke?
besides, the only rule for those was that the survivor not bring iron will (because if they did then Scott would just bring stridor)...
4 -
It helped me leave no scratchmarks and it can be used against her phasing too, she phases when chasing you, you walk TOWARDS her, woks most of the times, it's the same thing as blinding then walking towards her, both blinded and phasing, she can't see where you're going, works the same way.
0 -
No by using lucky break. And I will admit I have not watched a lot of dbd tournaments but the ones I have watched the only killer that looked like you couldn't counter was nurse. Spirit in those tournaments looked very pedestrian.
0 -
It's sad that people are always looking to find reasons why something isn't a "real counter to spirit".
Even using pallets is apparently not a counter to spirit even though the same people would say pre-dropping pallets against clown is a counter.
0 -
pssstt dont let his dream crushed, let pretend zubat can escape spirit
1 -
What does a 43 second Clip prove? Let alone that you did not even play against her Power, you blinded her and she messed up. And if you would have been injured, she would have hit you, because she gets the information where you are, while you dont have any information were she is.
(Which, again, is completely different from your Clip)
Let alone that Perks are no counter.
2 -
I know it was a joke and I don't believe iron will was the deciding factor but more so lucky break.
0 -
for me the only reason i can give is predropping pallet for clown allow me to escape him, but not on spirit
0 -
There is so much killers and put some perks because maybe you will get "Spirit". Great counterplay pal!
Now i can be pro and now i can make cry Spirit mains.
1 -
Right, you get more value out of Fixated than IRON WILL, the perk that gives all survivors more free distance than any exhaustion perk, and LUCKY BREAK, the perk that literally gives you a free escape.
And this is assuming we live in the world of utter BS in which no Spirits ever use headsets and it's perfectly okay for killers to only be even remotely countered by perks, which is utter BS because a good Spirit doesn't use scratchmarks anyway except to get somewhat close-ish so all of these don't even work.
3 -
It's basically a gamble, but Spirit has the advantage.
Unlike other killers you cannot read her as well so you have to basically guess what you need to do.
I learnt that double backing is a stupid idea because she can hear your breathing.
0 -
...that was just Zubat being Zubat. Nothing special there.
1 -
IS this the thread where we pretend short phasing isn't the number 1 strategy by good Spirits or the "throw down all pallets chase 1 and screw your team over" thread?
Also, claiming a specific perk is a counter to a specific killers power is dumb as the devs have been trying to move away from that for a while, hence the small game and saboteur changes.
1 -
If fixated works to make the spirit miss a phase walk, then it was her making a mistake. She can still hear your footsteps and breathing, so no it is not a counter because the spirit making a mistake is not counterplay. There is no special perk that will magically counter her, and not it is not iron will either.

Thanks for the Ochido clip

Yes, and someday you can prove to us that you're a god at countering Spirit.
Not yet though, Scott put the challenge on hold.
1 -
So to counter you're telling me I need to blind her, walk passed her, and pray to god she isn't running stridor bc she'd hear my breathing if she had it?
Cool, I need an item, a perk and good luck to counter.

To be fair, you have to be a very skilled killer to play Spirit. The timing on her phase attack is extremely subtle, without a solid grasp on your mouse to use it, which the typical killer simply is unable to do, you're going to 0k. There's also Spirit's mindgames that you have to take into account, do you use your phase at a pallet to hit the person on the other side, or do you simply do nothing and wait for the survivor to do it on their own? The best Spirit mains understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appriciate the precise timing of Spirit's m2, to realise that its not just a "boring power with little to no counterplay", they show SKILL in the GAME.

Bad arguament by that dude, Scott himself has stated that there's almost no difference in skill or gameplay between a 10 and 100 hour Spirit, and I can stand by that. I didn't play her when she launched until a month or two after. I don't think I EVER got less then 3 kills and a lot of those games were only using 1 or 2 perks.
Thats why I don't even play her anymore. I thought her lack of counterplay made her way too easy and subsequently boring.

I was probably just exaggerating so I'll take the L on that.

nice bait

Spread out and do gens is always the counter. But should you bring Fixated every game when Spirit have like 5-6% pick rate? I'm not that afraid of Spirit 😀

I'm so glad to see this is still in use.
