Which Killer Is Most Like Old Freddy?

I keep seeing all these discussions about old Freddy and they kinda make me sad because I never got a chance to play old Freddy. Which killer is currently the most like him? From what I can tell Plague and Nemesis seem the most similar but is there anyone else who has a similar play style to old Freddy?

Don't be sad. Nostalgia doesn't always reflect reality.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Currently Plague is the MOST similar to old Freddy because her early game strategy is almost identical to that of old Freddy’s.

With old Freddy (because his power was about delay and getting survivors to waste HUGE amounts of time constantly waking themselves up) it was important to NOT focus on chasing the first survivor you spot. If you were serious about getting good with him and winning it was critical to get all 4 survivors asleep ASAP, and then repeat this cycle whenever you noticed LESS than 2 survivors asleep, even if it meant abandoning a chase (unless you were about to down them, in which case you slug).

Similarly it is critical for Plague to get all 4 survivors into the initial stages of infection as early in the trial as possible. So again, like old Freddy, using a “run n gun” method, and infecting gens as she passes then. If I can’t hit a survivor I spot directly with vile purge because they’re quite crafty and using LoS blockers, then i’ll infect the vaults and pallets at loops during the chase, and force the survivor to use one, even if it means eating a pallet stun. Then i’ll abandon the chase to find another survivor because as far as I’m concerned the survivor is now already injured.

I was just thinking this the other day. With Undetectable & Oblivious Status Effects in the game now, with defined rules around them, could old Freddy even work in current DBD?

One of the more niche, yet useful aspects of old Freddy was that awake survivors were unable to read Freddy’s aura. Of course now if old Freddy made a return this could only be done if he were Undetectable. Except you can’t have the game be that Freddy is Undetectable to just select survivors (awake ones). Which means awake Survivors would have to be Oblivious, but then that means this means Freddy’s aura can’t be obscured to awake survivors either.

Anyway, not a MAJOR issue, but something that popped into my head recently.

I remember, thinking way way back to old freddy, people used to say he was a 'worse wraith' because they both had to use their power in order to actually start hitting survivors

Not sure if you agree with that comparison but, yeah - that was OLD wraith too, before he got buffs and maybe before he got better addons (?)
