I feel red rank survivors have been in the worst state in the past weeks.

I'm noticing when playing survivor that red ranks now feel as untarnished as ever. I have noticed in the past month red ranks solos survivors have been in the worst state that I have ever seen. I don't know what is going lately but it seems that red ranks survivor feel like they are not at the same level as red rank killers. Now I don't know is it maybe that there is a new wave of players in this game that ranked up to quickly or what is going on but I don't think I have seen red rank survivor play as badly as this last couple of weeks. Could it be the wave of new players? Or are survivors in general ranking to quickly.

This is another post that proves that skill bases matchmaking cannot come soon enough

It's pretty hard to recognize skill when they let everyone in.

I think they arrived already. The new RE fans which is great. But I'm shocked they managed to rank up this quickly.

I mean what I'm noticing is that I would get a lot more escapes before, but lately I'm losing matches more often. And to simple mistakes that survivors are making more than in the past. Like survivors unhooking front of the killer, just simple mistakes that I would not see as much in the past. I think red ranks is more muddied than it has ever been. But I thinks it's a new wave of played that ranked up quickly which could explain it.

The issue is with survivor its extremly hard to black pip unlike killer were black pipping is the norm or close to that. So the skill of a red rank survivor is not that good because of that. Dont forget solo miss something that swf have and its comm so ofc they will be less effective compare to the swf

I recently had a random small ttv in my lobby, watched the vod after the game: bubba right behind them, they keep running in a straight line, chainsaw vrmm vrmm, down... "oh, he has a one-hit"... rank5, almost devotion1, had no idea that a chainsaw instantly downs you...

I don't know if something has changed but I would agree. I'm stomping survivors lately using killers who generally are not survivor stompers (namely The Plague as I try to do that stupid Corrupt Purge Archive Challenge).

They're not great at getting chased, they hide like scared bunnies, they do a bad job of teamwork; basically I feel like I've been getting (at least) one potato per match. It's been in the last two weeks or so. I don't know if it's a string of good(?) luck for me or if something has happened to ranking behind the scenes or what might be going on. Tis very strange indeed...

Yeah I'm glad people are noticing red rank survivors are in the worst state that I have ever noticed. Don't get me wrong, I was never escaping in the past all the time. But lately I find myself losing more as a survivor. It's probably the new RDE fans that ranked up quickly I'm assuming.

Ranking up isn't based on skill in chase or gen pressure or anything related to what makes a good player.

Ranking up is farming a teammate twice and sitting on a gen while your teammates are slugged. You can rank up without ever once running from the killer or using a pallet.

Same goes for killer, camp and tunnel 2 people and now you're rank 1.

The problem that I see with the match making system is that the system matches (supposedly) red rank survivors with red rank killers (or equivalent) the problem here is that the system doesn't take into account the experience a player has.

So basically I have 200 hours into the game, I reached rank 1 survivor when I was barely 100 hours into the game so if the system was fair I should be ranked against a red rank killer with the same experience (around 200 hours supposedly) the problem here is the system doesn't take into account that some killers are red ranks but have spent 4000 hours playing the game and the skill gap between a red rank survivor with 200 hours vs a red rank killer with 4000 hours is massive.

Sometimes when I finish a game and take a look at the killers profile and I see 4000 hour play time then I say ''Well, no wonder we got destroyed, I may be a red rank survivor but I barely have 200 worth of experience and they matched me with a guy who has 4000 hours just because we both happen to be red ranks '' experience makes a lot of difference...

i think the problem here mostly lies with swf group carried to red ranks. while most of killer knows that the skill needed to escape swf and solos are really different. maybe dev need to consider having solos rank and swf rank

That's exactly the issue. I can immediately tell the difference between 5k hrs and 500 hrs in a player, but the game can't. I look forward to MMR for that reason, but survivor is so hugely contextual that I'm not holding my breath for BHVR to get it right. I'm fully expecting something stupid like "emblems, but hidden".

I honestly blame these tome challenges for causing this much problem to solo queue. You already have not so decent boosted red rank survivors and now add all these awful survivor tome challenges into the mix where you need to go out of the way to not do the main objective which are gens.... Yeah it's no surprise the majority of the matches are bloodbaths.

It's been bad for a very very long time. For survivor, red rank is unplayable unless you are all four on comms sweating profusely to get gens done and even that is usually not enough.

Way too much expected from the survivor side, and too little from the one killer. Not saying killer doesn't require effort, but the stars have to align for survivors to escape, the killer can play on auto pilot and win 99% of the time. It's very unbalanced. The retention rate of players have to be very small. Nobody wants to play when the odds are so small.

Red ranks = you know how the game works. It doesn't not mean people are necessarily gods at the game.

I'm usually red rank survivor and I don't feel I should be there. If i hit red it means I played a lot that month :P Thats it. Im not skilled at all and fail at chases. I know the maps and I'm a good teammate. That is enough to get me to red.

Ohtofu made a video regarding the problem. its been problem forever in DBD.

The basic problem is that survivor ranking system from rank 2-20 is bronze-silver in skill-level and rank 1 is like gold-challenger level in league of legends. It has never been that killers are too strong or anything like sluzzy suggests, it is that survivors could be like gold-platinum skill level facing a challenger-level killer where there is huge skill discrepancy. It can happen with killer if a player moves to a new killer but usually many killer skills are often shared between killers so its less of a problem as killer ranking system is far more strict.

Remember they use this broken matchmaking and rank system for statistics in balancing(like Freddy/Billy), but how could statistics be creditable when there is such huge variety of survivor skill-levels at red ranks. Its why the game desperately needs MMR and needs to stop using ranks. Ideally they'd need to rework emblem system in relation to the MMR so the player gets some feedback for how well/bad they're doing.

I think your right. What's worse is all these new players "think" they are pros because they reached red ranks. Then when they lose to something to think it's OP and complain on the forums for nerfs. Little do they know rank means nothing. In this game red rank is a participation trophy.
