Why has the option of being able to switch killers when you loaded into a lobby been removed?

So i know this is pretty irrelevant to the game, but still I feel like BHVR keeps removing little features that make the game more enjoyable. Examples: Being able to press esc on gens and not have to hold m1, the ui getting needlessly changed, killers getting stupid nerfs *BILLY, TWINS, PIG*. I can go on about more stuff too that that they have added that is complete nonsense but I'd rather not turn this into a rant but a discussion that is based aronud my original question and just these little changes they're making in general.

Can’t check what map it is either so you can’t adjust your loadout

I mean they have explained the changes made. The UI was updated to a newer and supported technology built into Unreal Engine called UMG and that has resulted in multiple improvements, it wasn't just changed willy nilly. The ability to switch killers while queuing up was made in preparation for the mmr update which would have individual killer mmr, and changing the ability for the client to switch while queued would require an update every time they change it (which wouldn't work). As for killer nerfs as far as I know Pig hasn't had anything happen to her.

It was removed when they did the MMR matchmaking system (basically giving each killer their own "individual" rank for you so your main might be Rank 1 but someone you've never played as might be Ranked 20; they didn't want you to load into a lobby with your Rank 20 killer and then switch to a Rank 1 killer once the lobby was filled with noob survivors).

When MMR was an absolute colossal failure, they disabled MMR without disabling being able to switch your killer out

As far as I understand it, the lock was kept in place to avoid needing a client update when they want to test mmr again and also to allow players to get used to it.

Also true. When MMR is eventually put back in, they don't have to worry about disabling it again.

Assuming the next MMR attempt isn't also a dumpster fire of a failure and immediately cancelled :D

Basically they made something similar to mmr for each individual killer in order to get more fair matches. The mmr kicks in after 10 games or so. Imagine it like this: if you're an Oni main and you keep getting 4ks, you'll get harder and harder opponents to match your skill level. If you wanna start playing huntress, you'll get people from your rank (they will know at least the basic mechanics of the game that you're supposed to know on your rank) but they won't be as good as the survivors you face as Oni. This also counts on killers you haven't played in a while, specifically after rank reset. I haven't touched deathslinger for at least 2 months and I've been playing Hag constantly, if I play a game of deathslinger, I'll get matched up with red ranks, but they won't be as good as the people I face as Hag.

In order for the MMR to work it requires to find people with basically the same mmr, so when you queue up it starts searching for players on your killer's skill level. If you're able to switch, then the MMR will be basically useless.

Ahh, I never knew that they explained that thanks for educating me about that. I guess that makes sense, I just simply guesses that they did not like those changes considering their past history but this just makes way more sense.

From what I understand its preparation for the mmr system. Behind the scenes the game is calculating the hours you have as that killer (from what I understand i might be wrong) and it takes time to do that. So in theory if I have a low hours nurse (which i do lol) when the mmr arrives them hours calculated will be there to match me against a rough approximation of the same hours as survivor and make it more difficult gradually as i do better and better. (pip, double pip and so on.) Again, its just my understanding I might be wrong.
