Random trophies reset

I upgraded to ps5 for ps4 a few months ago. I play regularly. Just a few days ago I got a pop up when I logged in saying that I got trophies for prestige of my characters. All my trophies have been reset. For instance the progress of successful skill checks says I only have 48 when I’ve easily gotten thousands since I’ve had the ps5. Why would all my trophies reset months after changing to the new system?
