What was it like to face old legion?
Considering I bought the game in April of 2019 and legion was changed a bit after that I barely played against it I've always heard horror stories

I bought the game in June of 2020 so I have no idea what it was like but I probably don’t wanna know.

We 2019 players really missed out on the true horror

I haven't gone against it myself but I imagine spirit but you can see the teenager coming to stab you with zero effort on their part and getting downs with nearly no thought required.
1 -
This killer was a completly represetation of hell
2 -
The double mend addons were the worst. Minutes of mending due to errors in coding.
Old Legion was an inevitable down. It took a few hits but it was inevitable. Slow. Painful. Nothing could be done.
3 -
Wait what? Legion was actually a nightmare to face at some point in the past? O.o
I am actually curious about this because I really like them and want them to be one of my mains, despite knowing how weak they are in the killer tier list. I just really love their concept as a character and I like that essentially its four characters in one, and they have such diverse customization. Plus I just think they're fun to play in general. But yeah pray tell, what actually made them such a nightmarish force to be reckoned with? I think I remember reading it had something to do with their old special ability right? I have no idea what it did though.

in short, you just wanted to ragequit DbD for about forever.
EDIT:
to visualize:
1 -
its not a relase legion it was way worst game was so clouse to lose many players
2 -
Stab
Run a bit while being chased but not actually in chase.
Plop on the ground.

I’ve watched a few videos and from what I could tell was Legion was essentially that one guy in Upper/High school that for whatever reason decided your next 4 years were going to be as miserable as possible turned to code and given a knife
He was boring, infuriating and caused as much if not more insta DC’s then old Doctor, which is saying quite a lot
2 -
For the most part, you would get downed no matter what you did as survivor. Each hit with feral frenzy would decrease the mend bar until you were dead.
Legion also had add-ons to make this process happen faster.

Literal hell.
Spirit is cheap? This killer was literally uncounterable in the 1v1. Your skill was irrelevant, you could not do anything except hope your team could hold M1 on a generator, while the Legion moonwalked (exploited for faster downs), vaulted pallets and windows (took away all defences), had no missed swing recovery (bye bye juking), all the while being a 24m terror radius killer. Stealth? Haha enjoy killer instinct loser.
Don't get me started on Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wounds Study, or Double Mending add-ons.
Facing old Legion was the most boring experience of my life and I would genuinely rather watch paint dry than return to a game vs old Legion because there was n o t h i n g you could do as a survivor to counter old Legion.
It wasn't fun :')
3 -
Oh I remember the old Frank stabbed me and now is going to just follow loosely behind me, so that I go down no matter what I do cause I can't stop to mend and I'm on a timer that goes down nonstop. Legion was a mess.

I've watched a few videos of mixtape and stab wounds study definitely overkill back then lol

Feral Frenzy still let Legion see blood at the time and Bloodhound was popular on Legion as well. Bloodhound also helped with moonwalking as you could look at the ground following the glowing blood to the survivor who couldn't stop to mend, but would still go down because deep wounds was only paused while you were in chase.
Also Legion at the time didn't have to wait for their power bar to be fully charge and could just start Feral Frenzying immediately plus the shorter fatigue duration. So no real downtime between stabs either.
4 -
yeah that one too
they weren't punished for mistakes and their design was incredibly flawed and filled with exploits
do not stan old legion
3 -
It was miserable. I don’t understand how such a stupid killer power design ever made it live but it was insanely annoying to face and left a grudge that still exists against Legion for a lot of people who played at that time, me included.
You couldn’t do anything. You couldn’t run, you couldn’t hide. Old Legion was like a less cool and more annoying Terminator: he absolutely would not stop, ever, until you were dead.
3 -
It was truly horrible and miserable.
2 -
I think Scott Jund put it best.
Edit: PainReliever does a better description of how Legion's power actually worked.

Here's how a chase against Old Legion typically went:
He stabs you twice with feral frenzy, and then starts chasing you normally. You make it to a pallet or window, he vaults over it, and stabs you again. You start running again, you find another pallet or window, he vaults it and downs you.
Or alternatively:
He stabs you twice with feral frenzy, and then starts following you while walking backwards. And because the deep wound timer was tied to being in a chase at the time, your mend bar would deplete while you were running away from him. You'd have to try and stay in chase with him, but if you do it'll be easier for him to catch you. But if you don't you'll just go down anyway.
Basically with Old Legion he was going to down you, no matter what you did.

Atleast the DC penalties didn't exist
3 -
A mixture of terrifying and annoying honestly. Can't really explain it better than that.
3 -
It was hell, at best.
2 -
Bad.
You'll sometimes see people wishing they could play the older versions of guys like Freddy or Doc because their powers were pretty unique (even though they were generally weaker than they are now).
...no one wants Old Legion to come back. Ever.
6 -
It was terrible for everyone. If they did repeated Frenzy tunneling, they'd waste so much time that multiple gens pop. And it pretty much mandated playing dirty, since they were a slow 110% Killer with a power that doesn't help at all for downing.
Of course, there was the moonwalking trash, but that just goes into how Legion was garbage tier.
2 -
Oh yeah I've seen videos of that moonwalking ######### how was that even in the game at one point lol

Poor beta testing by the devs. They said that Legion was, of all things, BALANCED, when doing internal testing.
They failed to notice any of the underhanded tactics, or how Legion was extremely weak without exploiting game mechanics.
