Oh no, survivors can't abuse bad map design for guaranteed wiggle off/run back up/repeat.
What ever will we do now. Learn how to play with skill? Nah, just gonna cry about fair changes some more until they just replace killers with tutorial level AI bots.

Guys, remember that there is a gen up there...

There are a total of 7 generators in the trial. This is why there are sometimes 3 generator standoffs. So what if the killer blocks that generator? There are always going to be 2 more on the map.

There was almost certainly a vault or a hole at some point in development, the "fence" around the top has at least one spot that looks like it used to be open. The reason there isn't a way to get down other than the stairs currently is that it would make the top of the building extremely safe for survivors. Once you hear the terror radius you can just jump down and run. Most likely would become an extremely cancerous loop spot if you just immediately run up the stairs to the hole again and there are lots of pallets around the house.

If you don't want to get hooked up there then don't go near the house. The path to the hook is long enough that it's not possible to reach the hook unless you are downed inside or right outside the house, unless the killer is using Iron Grasp + Agitation or something.

Valid point. And I hear you. We shouldn't be creating more toxic looping areas. But there are a vast number of us who never abused the exploit of running up to the corner to avoid a hook in the first place. Fixing something that's unbalanced by unbalancing it in the other direction isn't really a fix.

If there was more than one way out from the top, it would balance it back out. Even if it's just another entrance to the same single staircase. Just to avoid anybody body blocking the only way in/out. That goes for survivors and killers.

I've only done it once without knowing it was an exploit. I was downed near the generator, and the basement wasn't there. I realized the killer could not get me to a hook in time, so I did not go back upstairs (because who in their right mind likes the constant game of getting downed, being almost carried to a hook, running all the way back up there just to repeat the process? I don't see that as fun for either party). I think it was a good call to add a hook upstairs, because honestly the upstairs felt rather lacking. If anything, the game gave survivors another legitimate reason to be upstairs (to unhook a survivor). Otherwise, the only business the survivor had being upstairs was either the generator or the chest.

I do disagree with the Thompson house upstairs practically being made into a second basement (with only one hook). There should either be a gap or a window on opposite sides of the house. I always hated the only way to get down was the staircase. If you are worried about looping, survivors will suffer from staggering, where (as far as I know) killers do not. It would only be an issue IF they are running Balanced Landing (which they would only be able to use the speed boost for one loop).

It's debatable if survivors should suffer from fall damage jumping down from that height (practically a 3-story drop). At that height, there could just be extra stagger. Alternately, there could be a hole in the floor to get below easier (like in the Game or the Asylum). In fact, the Asylum has multiple ways to get down from the top floor (a map where survivors could escape when they hear the heartbeat). Honestly, there also ought to be an upstairs (and downstairs, unless the basement is present) hook in the Asylum as well (same for Ironworks, there is a perfect spot for a hook up there). Give balance to these maps.

Overall, it's a good start, but there just needs to be another exit from upstairs, either a hole, a gap, or a window.

So killers can camp the stair to prevent unhook!

And 1 gen camping comes free!

    Pretty good job!

    XD

ok then child, you know everything counters this with killers without collision right

So it was fair to run to the top of the house and never get hooked? The chance a killer blocks the stairs so you cant get unhooked is keeping you up at night ? Can we please take a deep breath exhale the entitlement and just play the game.

Its not even something that doesnt already exist with the basement and that hook is barely going to find any use in practice cause why bother going up there when the basement in the same building is more dangerous.

And of course it comes with the same issue as all other forms of camping.

That hook is merely a scarecrow that keeps them away from doing that exploit at the chest.

How was that an exploit. It was 100% possible to get down from there unless they had riled up or whatever it is which nobody really uses or the killer was utter trash. I've gotten many people down from there.

The meat hole in the game is the same height and everyone uses it just fine. I mean the one you need to vault to go down.

You can do the same in the basement, why do you care?

The top of the Thompson house was a safe haven. If a survivor were to go down by the chest up there, the chances of a killer being able to carry them all the way back down and to a hook are significantly reduced. This new hook helps prevent a free escape.

TBH they should just make basement permanent on Thompson House. Putting a hook up there is a bad idea exactly because the killer can body block. It didn't fix the problem, just flipped it around so killer can do BS.

This map plus Preschool need permanent basements.
