I feel confident in saying most of the community does not want mmr to be apart of the game permanently, but maybe I'm wrong, so do you think mmr is a healthy system that will increase your enjoyment and fun? Or do you think mmr is a terrible option that will only harm the balance, fun and health of the game?

    MMR is good

If this last test is at all indicative of how it's going to be a I like it. Both my team mates and opponents tended to be more competent. Rarely were killers getting totally walked over as a survivor. When I was playing killer, my survivors were all pretty competent and it made it pretty fun.

In the previous tests, I had issues with matchmaking times, but I am a 3500 hour player so I was probably rated quite high, but matchmaking times while not always perfect were pretty good this time around.

The real problem is that they don't know how to make an MMR system. First of all MMR does work and its tried and tested in thousands of games in all genre's... From Overwatch to Counterstrike, From League to Dota from WOW arena to Elderscrolls arena and everything in between. MMR does work and matches you with people in your skill bracket (if they code it properly).

Clearly BHVR has something wrong with their MMR system and it isn't working with their spaghetti code. as a red rank i can go multiple games in a row with all red players. then i have some games in a row where i'm the only red player and the other 4 people are rank 20 on new accounts... If MMR was turned on and was working, this would be impossible... also to test it half way through rank reset wont work, they need to completely reset everyone's account MMR to get any valid feedback.

A lot of people are complaining all they are getting is sweaty red ranks, well the red ranks are not happy that you are bad, it's not fun either way.

If they get MMR to work properly only the good players will be in red ranks and the people who don't want to try hard will hover around purple and green ranks (where they should be anyway) and it wont affect their gameplay, they just wont have the undeserved red rank.

Personally, i don't think mmr or skill based match making belongs in this game. Fact of the matter is this game isn't perfectly balanced, and it probably never will be and it probably shouldn't be. But mmr only belongs in competitive games that have perfect balance in game design. Dbd is very fun but not an export game. At high mmr the only killers that will last are spirit and nurse. I think personally the ranking system is good, it just needs to be refined and tuned. Hell make it harder to get pips or increase rank 20 to rank 40 so getting to those high ranks is much harder and much more indicative of Skill. But mmr will make the game sweaty, repetitive, and probably unfun. The current wonky matchmaking actually made dbd quite fun, sometimes you get a full team of very good survivors, other times you get half good half bad, and others just bad. And there are other problems with mmr too, for example, the resident evil chapter comes out soon right? Well if you play survivor with a decent mmr you won't even run into the new killer for days as the player mmr won't have reached your level. I hope that makes sense. I honestly hope they scrap the idea entirely.

The current matchmaking is the most broken thing in the game, IMO, so a skill-based system would be amazing. I'm not 100% sure if they can build a skill-based system for DBD, because it's hard to imagine what stats they could pull that would reliably predict a winner, and I'm not sure A-beats-B-B-beats-C-A-should-beat-C would work in this game, but, at this point, I'm willing to try a new system.

During this last test, my matches didn't feel worse than usual, and some of them felt better, so... here's hoping.

The previous MMR was awful, I lost nearly all matches so it clearly thought I was a better player than I am. This time round, it again assumed I should be versing 4 rank 1 players but it soon adapted and put me against fellow potatoes.

Howver, there should be a hard block on yellow/grey ranks versing red ranks (or their MMR equivalents). Protecting newer players should take precedence over the waiting time of hardcore players.

the new skill based matchmaking was way better than the other MMR we had last time, both as killer and survivor my matches got to a point that even solo games were fun. still could be better on some killers but the skill based matchmaking wasn't around enough to test all the killers.
