Dbd hid a tidbit of lore in character design.

As many of you remember, 2 - 3 years ago we were introduced to Talbot Grimes, AKA The Blight. This came through the Hallowed Blight, but we never got a great look at him. When we did see him, it was usually a shadowed silhouette, or a glimpse of a portion of his outfit.

That somewhat changed in the withering blight. Where we got a more full body look at Talbot. Where we saw he dressed in a hooded trench coat. His outfit looked as if it could blend into any time period.

But, when we first got him as a killer. His design in game differed significantly from the archives. It looks far older, less like a trench coat, and had a frock.

Despite this change in design, his archive design stayed consistent. Lending credence to the multiverse that is present in DBD. As well as the fact that it is mentioned that the entity has preferences for some individuals over others.

With that in mind, it's no stretch of the imagination to say that there are two different Blights. Both who ended up as the same twisted monster.

The reason why he has different outfit in the archives is because they didn't finalize his design back then and he was meant to be a different character (Benedict Baker) but they changed it.

On a stream one of the devs mentioned how they wanted to show how Talbot become the Blight in Doors Unknown and there was no mention of this being a different version, rather it was the same character. They also mentioned that they want to use him to explain some things that happened in the realm, and the events will be from before he became The Blight.
