Swf it's cheat
For me it's cheating

Yeah, no. Pretty sure the developers have openly stated before that using things like discord and whatnot are not cheating. Hell, even their official discord server has voice channels titled "swf"

The Devs have confirmed it is not cheating
Neither is stream sniping, i think

Literally a feature of the game.

Ah yes, that’s why survive with friends is an option in the lobby. It’s actually connected to an auto banner.
Is this the killer equivalent of sluzzy?
10 -
No it does not.
7 -
Just let those Single White Females play the game, damn
13 -
Just had a killer tunnel everyone off the hook. He said its coz we were SWF after a headon play.
He didnt realise until end game when he checked our profiles that we were solo (after accusing us of being SWF).
My point is, youre probably not playing that many SWFs, or at least not as many as you think. Sometimes survivors can play well and are capable of doing their only objective...
4 -
Its not cheating but the survivor have an unfair advantage over you
6 -
And? Wow having friends is crime in dbd
3 -
SWF isn't cheating.
Using comms to get an upper hand is.
6 -
I mean if you think so, that's fine.
Just don't expect a single game developer on planet earth in the year 2021 to agree with you.

Swf it's ok but the vocal no, "the killer is here, he chase me do the gen, go use your flashlight now, it's ghost face, I have the map for know where is the hatch, use your key now, the killer is down......." That it's cheating,
2 -
Stream Sniping isn't against BHVR's Tos but it is in violation of Twitch's TOS
4 -
Confirmed by the devs, the people who make the game and decide what is/isn't cheating, that it isn't cheating.
6 -
But you can't really prove it unless you are also streaming
3 -
utterly delusional.
nope. the game was originally released on steam, which itself has a built-in chat feature -- including voice chat, which can be used while playing. It is objectively not cheating. The dev's intentions by their method of game distribution clearly refutes this. Just because it's not a core feature of the game does not make it cheating.

It's not cheating.
The absurd thing about this game is that they've yet to implement a voice chat system within the game. That would mean that survivors could purely be balanced around the idea of swf instead of considering swf AND solo survivors
2 -
Idk when someone in my chat called RedPanda667 shows up for one match and leaves and the killer I just faced was called RedPanda667 and knew exactly where I was I think that's proof enough
DISCLAIMER: I do not know anyone called RedPanda667 and I have never faced someone called RedPanda667

Tbf, I've played against streamers and I've been accused of sniping when I say gg in chat afterwards

*rolls eyes* 😒

They don't necessarily have to have the same names on, I know I don't.
Not on purpose or to try anything naughty, but it just happened like that.

the problem is that twitch can't ban him in DbD, so, this guy don't cares

Swf is not cheating. Personally I feel that the game wasn't originally designed around voice comms, but they've given killer so many tools since then that it doesn't really matter anymore in most cases.

As someone who beats the absolute tar out of the occasional solo team, if SWF is ever considered cheating I'm dropping this game due to OP killers.
1 -
The devs keep making the game worse and worse for solo survivors like me, so pretty soon there won't be anything left but SWFs. Have fun!

How dare I play with my friends! Oh the horror!
Dude, get a grip, it's not cheating. The devs have even confirmed so.

I know you asked the op but let me give my view on the matter.
Swf opens the possibility for additional coordination via out of game coms, but this option is only available for one side and the other has nothing to compensate this advantage in case both sides were already evenly skilled.
Other online multiplayer pvp games have implemented tools to give both sides something to shrink the advantage like a ping wheel in league of legends, chat short comments in rocket league and even full in game voice chat like again rocket league, rainbow six siege and overwatch to name a few.
But dbd is asymmetrical (probably the only surviving game of this genre and therefore has the monopole advantage) and one side can't get any advantage of those tools. But as already mentioned in other threads they could implement such tools to even the playing field for all survivors and could then balance killer around that.

It isn't cheating, the game just hasn't been designed or balanced for it so it feels like cheating.

At the end of the day, only if you're a Twitch member. And Twitch might not do anything anyway (see below).
Even if you can prove, Twitch might turn a blind eye. I reported a streamer who had on their YouTube account (advertised in their Twitch channel) recent videos a whole compilation of people they streamsniped with clips of both sides and name listed out. The video openly admitted to streamsniping.
I made a detailed report including all the self-incriminating evidence.
What came of it? ######### all is what came. They've been made partner later on afaik. If not even a smoking gun is enough, then nothing will do.
When it comes to streaming in live game, it's 100% a do-it-at-your-own-risk thing.

Both sides are able to do things that give them an advantage in a match. Swf can use comms but the killer also gets information before the match such as:
- Hours played by the survivors
- Can check their friends (know who's in a swf)
- Know what items they have
Swf isn't cheating. Personally would like for solo q to get some sort of comms then buff killers also but that'll probably never happen.

If killers rate is 65-75% and swf is cheating, playing blight nurse or spirit is cheating against solos
0 -
I actually agree that comms should be considered cheating. It's not how the game was balanced and designed, and I'm pretty sure the main reason it's tolerated is marketing. But, because the main reason is marketing, I don't see them getting rid of it. So, we're just kind of stuck in a sub-par situation forever where a lot of the stealth elements don't work.
