How would you fix survivors tapping a gen to stop regression?

...are you just ignoring what I'm writing at this point? Do me a favor. Look at what pop does right now. 25% right? I'm saying, give killers a base line 5% regression to their kicks. While doing that, nerf pop down to 20%. Now add 20+5 and tell me what does that equal? Like I said, it literally changes nothing for pop, holy hell.

2 seconds to kick a gen for 5%
Survivor makes up 5% in 5 seconds,
20% of a whole gen. what if it was close to being done? 20%
Go and hook a surv for new pop---oh nvm. they completed it because pop didn't give the additional 25% i needed
and now i'm at like 1 gen left. See where that logic is..
You already can tell the difference anyways with pop and non-pop kicks..
It'd be dark orange for pop. and light orange for non-pop. That gen automatically applies regression after some time has passed..

I mean that is what overcharge does and nobody runs it outside of meme builds.

You're literally asking the devs to do something to stop survivors from trying to win the game? Is this whole post a joke?

Joke is your comment. That the killer takes two seconds to hit a gen and the survivors with a single click prevents it from continuing to regress is absurd.
If you think otherwise, you are a simple main survivor who has never played killer. The problem with "gen tapping" has nothing to do with preventing survivors from repairing. What doesn't make sense is that in the middle of a chase a survivor can quickly touch the generator to avoid its regression.

I've changed the title due to some confusion. Hopefully it's a little easier to understand what I originally meant now. :)

Ruin, overcharge, dragons grip

Honestly just a small 0.5-1sec interaction bar would be fine; anything to stop it undoing regression in a frame or 2.

My idea would be either skill check as was previously suggested (cannot be "taken" like overcharge) or a restart action that takes around 2,5 seconds (cannot be interrupted or it resets, like totems), regression stops as that restart action is finished.
Gen directly kicked by the killer could also apply 3% of regression instantly (nerf pop from 25% to 20% to compensate).
These things only apply to generators kicked directly by the killer.
Oppression, Surge or ruin regression wouldn't need to be restarted.

You guys are really finding anything and everything to complain about…. A survivor tapping a gen mid chase is a blessing in my book, I can recall multiple instances where it game me an easy hit.

I'd fix it as described in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/248602/gen-regression-rework

All skill, pure luck!

Make it so whenever a killer kicks a gen it instantly regresses 5% adjust pop to 20 so it's still 25. Tapping could easily lose you a ton of progress and this would also make there be an actual reason to kick gens if you don't have a specific gen kicking perk.
