Is kicking a generator that a survivor used brand new part on a waste of time

I was playing as killer and kicked a generator looked down then back up and got the prompt to kick again. I repeatedly kicked the generator for about thirty seconds before giving up. The survivor I chased off it had a toolbox so I think it was the brand new part.

    Are you certain you held the kick button down long enough? If you let go early, it makes the animation and the kicking sound but doesn't actually finish the kick to start the gen regressing. Check the corner of the screen for the scoring event that you successfully kicked.

    That might have been it but I've never er had that problem before

    It's also possible a survivor was crouched on the other side tapping it every time you kicked it.

    Kicking a generator is usually a waste of time without pop though
