Does anyone know if Nemesis is supposed to give MoM stacks with protection hits from his tentacle?

In a game earlier, I took a protection hit and got the protection scoring event but I didn't get a stack on Mettle of Man. A friend said maybe the killer was too far away but I have gotten MoM stacks from Huntress hatchets in the past. Just wondering if anyone else had seen this.

    If you got protection hit scoring event then you're supposed to get MoM stacks so that's a bug
