Mettle of Man does not register hits

I'm sorry I don't have footage, but I can assure that for the past 3 games I had wich all had the same build, Mettle of Man didn't hit Protection hits. I had the Altruism event pop up on the UI, I had the bloodpoints, but the skill wouldn't budge.
I was playing Nea with the Beach Break skin, I had the purple med kit, and I brought Mettle of Man, Self-Care, Built to Last and Dead Hard.
