Cant re-add friend

When my friend tried to join my party recently he accidentally unfriended me, now when trying to re-add each other our names don’t show up on friends list. Is there another way to friend or to re add each other? (We have tried adding each other with names and player Ids)

This sounds like a bigger technical issue so maybe create a post on the appropriate section and try to give more details (which platform are you and your friend using)
