This game's wasted potential. And it's depressing
This game could be truly phenomenal. Yet there's so much holding it back.
1. Poor Optimization
2. Bugs
3. Poor communication (community dev mistrust)
4. Slow and few amount of changes
5. Poor balance with perks, killers, loops, and other things
6. Long unenjoyable grind.
7. Too much clutter many offerings with little or too much impact
8. Too much weak perks.
9. Many imbalanced maps
How are they alive? Competition is even worst at balancing. I consider the first two biggest issues.

I'd give a problem to slow to change the game as a problem. the meta could be so much more spicy if they were to give meaningful buffs/nerfs more often instead of waiting for 3 months for them to change how fast demo moves while channeling his leap.

I love what this game could be. I don't love what it is now.

can you throw only 1 game mode for five years in there as well

How did they mess up so badly that the playerbase looks forward to any genre competitor announcements and wants them to succeed lol

Unfortunately bhvr holds a monopoly on this genre. Any competitors are very likely to fail, and they have. This is why bhvr release garbage, buggy chapters. They don't have an incentive to do any better and only fix stuff whenever they see fit.

EXACTLY THIS. Feels like such a waste to have almost 30 survivors & killers and yet we still have just one measly game mode to work with.

this is why dbd needs competition so they can step their game up

- I blame the community circle jerk more than the devs tbh.
- This game has had an insane amount of content added to it, usually to the detriment of 1) and 2). Don't agree here.
- Balance is decent right now and has gotten steadily better over time.
- I enjoy it. It is long though. Depends if you appreciate the journey or just want to get to the end.
- Offerings are supposed to have little to no impact. That's the case across the board now.
- This is improving all the time. There are only a small minority of perks that are straight up useless now, even outside of niche builds.
- Map balance is also decent and has consistently improved over time. There are only a couple that need more substantial changes imo.

I love what this game once was. I hate what it currently is.

I think Scott had a great idea with perks of the week. Basically pick 2 perks on each side. Buff the crap out of them, then pick 2 meta perks and nerf them. If something breaks the game, no biggie because its only a week, if something turns out to be awesome, keep it

No game is perfect, this game is amazing and if bugs set u back then ur not a tru gamer

I disagree with you on the maps. I think theyve gotten worse over the last year. Corn maps still suck, groaning storehouse is still godawful. Dont get me started on RPD and the game. Midwich i like even though most people hate it. Its like theyve learned absolutely nothing imo in terms of map design. In a lot of those cases they made the maps worse

Poor optimization hasn't been proven?

- It's like they don't even alpha test for pc, and don't internally test for consoles at all.
- And some of them should be so easily fixable.
- Personally I think dbd is some cruel, perverted psychological experiment to see how much customers are willing to endure.
- plus the unwillingness to make much needed major changes (like having the game punish scummy playing, or overhauling how perks work in general)
- maps are designed around the killer they came with, meaning the powers can easily fall flat/become overpowered on other maps.
- and the community has offered a laundry list of solutions, but nothing comes of that.
- they are sticking so stubbornly to their 'must have 3 perks and X addons of Y quality' formula for killers and surv items
- rather too many too similar perks (see point 4)
- see point 5. maps are designed around their killer or a license, not around playability

the game is fun im not gonna lie but it feel like the devs are getting to comfortable where theyre at right now, with more lazy sloppy work and theyre still getting money, only thing that will get them off the pedestal is competition.

They can't update the game quickly because of console and cross play. Consoles charge bhvr every time they patch the game so they save changes for the chapter updates. Thanks to cross play we can't even use steam to test updates or make quick changes.
Console ruins everything.
