Isn't the matchmaking supposed to match you based on ranks?
I mean, I started playing killer role just recently. I am completely new in it. I had one match with one killer, one match with other killer. they were balanced in terms it was my ranks and enemies didn't have too much perks.
And now I was eager to see what the 3rd match would give me as another 3rd killer. And it throws me against survivors who are ranks 5, 7, 10 and 2 with all 3 tier 4 perks in their slots. Meanwhile I have only one basic perk without any addon.
And this is how this game things it's balanced? I didn't even manage to hook anyone at least once because the match took like 4-5 minutes and they were also harassing in a post match lobby saying "ez noob haha uninstall" messages when it's definitely a very high skill requirement to play vs a completely new player in a killer role. Welcome to DBD, where even matchmaking is just part of RNG

What is the point of having "ranks" and said " pip gaining conditions" if it doesn't matter.

Lol. First time ?

Imagine, players can play specific killers first time or role first time.

Oof. I'm sorry that happened - players that see they got a new killer in the postgame chat and decide to taunt them for that are absolute scum. Worst of the worst. Unfortunately... this isn't the last time this is going to happen to you. Matchmaking often throws its hands up in the air and gives you whoever, especially when the queue times for the other side are long. It's one of the biggest and most enduring problems with this game. I'd suggest playing killer in the daytime; killer queues are longer then, but I get less horrible rank mismatches.
You will also find groups of high rank survivors that try to exploit matchmaking by inviting one baby ranked survivor in their team and using them to fish out baby ranked killers - so something like three rank 1-4s and a rank 16, hoping to get yellow and brown ranked killers to bully. If you're a very new killer, you should probably avoid teams where all/most of them have DLC survivors wearing paid cosmetics. Those are not going to be newbie survivors.

DBD has always had terrible matchmaking. For years BHVR has dangled skilled matchmaking like a carrot on a stick. They keep saying that it's coming, but it never does. They are more invested in how the game looks, then how it actually runs. I truly feel sorry for all the new players that Resident Evil brought into the game. All those new players got to see for themselves just how poorly this game runs. Not only is the new map still unplayable almost 2 weeks after release, but the performance is still s***.

So basically I should never play because every lobby is like that?

First of all, welcome to DbD!
As you´ve already seen, our community just loves to give new players a "warm" welcome.
Now regarding the matchmaking. The devs are currently working on a skill based matchmaking. But we have no release date yet. Its supposed to only match you with people of your skill level, making it more enjoyable for everyone.

If it's a Resident Evil character I would say no, because many people, especially new players, are excited for Resident Evil. But if you see other cosmetics sets that people are wearing that cost $15, then like they said there's a good chance that is not a new player.

Yeah I've seen the screenshots of this "working matchmaking" on both steam and these forums, including reddit, where players with 20 ranks as survivors get vs rank 1 killer and vice versa.

That was a matchmaking test. They reset the data to test how fast the matchmaking would start to match people accordingly.

I mean, why is this rank 4 allowed to be in a match with low rank players only because he is in a party with 2 guys who have full perks. Isn't it supposed to be average mathematically? No?
And how are you supposed to have fun/enjoy and learn in such games when it literally becomes impossible to hook or kill anyone completely.
Yes, I did a pip barely during this match. But then acting like "haha, ez noob killer" when I have only ONE perk vs a team that has tier 3 perks, half of which are meta, and ranks better than mine when I belong to 20-16 ranks queue. When i bought the game and some DLC and this is the end result.

Honestly at your rank you need to stop worrying about ranks, pipping, or anything else, just focus on getting as much BP as you can to level your killers up and unlock perk slots and perks.
Just focus on learning each killer you want to play, how their power works, what's the best time to use it, what tiles do they excel on, what tiles do they have trouble on. Consult killer guides on youtube, there's also guides on how to mindgame at loops as well.
Right now your only focus should be on playing and getting better. Winning and losing isn't that important in a game that rank resets every month.
Every R1 killer started where you are, if you haven't yet, buy BBQ and Chili off the Shrine of Secrets if you can, it's a great perk and will help with the BP grind.

And I have only one question: why are players with little-to-no inventory are being matched vs players who have full build consisting of TIER 3 PERKS. Like this is the same as throwing into any game based on items where a person has only one low quality item, and opponent against him has some sort of legendary gear.

The issue is that those survivors then harass me in chat like "ez idiot, noob, camper, tunneler, uninstall" when they see it was a killer with literally nothing. And while you can report them for being toxic in post-game chat, literally nothing is done about harassment, from what I read of forums/reddit/steam forums. Veterans with thousands of hours harass new players for being new and act like it requires any skill and brain to play like that.
Also: I want to learn, but how are you supposed to learn in a match where your opponent has full equipment and you have only one stick? Even in real life learning is an ongoing process among people with similar starting conditions, right?

Yeah the matchmaking is broken and i believe SWF also mess up the already wonky algorithm, wouldn't surprise me if bully squads used this to their advantage to get easy games.

BHVR did implement a proper training mode which is nice, however it needs to be updated to allow you to use any killer you own. As it is right now you can only use Trapper, which sucks. I would love to be able to practice the mechanics of a new killer before hopping in to a sweaty online match. It's hard to learn and grow when you're getting stomped repeatedly.

You might as well turn the chat off. 3 years, almost every match, whether you win or not, you will get messages like this.

Veterans with thousands of hours harass otger players with thousands of hours. Theres literally nothing you can do. Turn off the chat.
