Should perk tiers be removed?
There's been a fair amount of discussion about this lately, so I thought I'd make a poll. What are people's thoughts on this idea?
I personally think the concept is very logical. Perk tiers were made when the game had a tiny fraction of the number of perks it has today. When you take into account how many characters there are, prestiging and the overall grind of the game nowadays, I think removing the tier system could simplify everything a lot and make the grind more manageable (especially for newer players who are joining the game with no progress at all).

Perk tiers should be removed (all perks equivalent of top tier by default)
I think the grind is huge with this amount of perks and characters.
For example Survivors now have 95 perks total if you want all perks on one character, that means you need to grind for 285 tiers, that means you're on Level 50 with 75 tiers and 210 left, now you need to roll over and over again the bloodweb 105 times on Level 50 until you reach maxed out character and I'm not even counting prestige, when you need to start again with your bloodweb.
And ofc you need to unlock these perks on all other characters which is 27 (I mean teachable, so 26x up-to Level 40).

I am against the removal of Perk Tiers. Simple reason - new players would have no Content.
If we look at Survivors and Killers:
Survivors have 14 general Perks.
Killers have 12 general Perks.
So before a player has his 4th Perk Slot on either side, they run out of Perks to get in the Bloodweb. And this is really boring, Perks are the most interesting thing to get, especially as a new player - and you have them all at Level 14/12. Yay.
What I would do (100%):
- Let more Perks appear in the Bloodweb: Level 1-9-->1 Perk, Level 10-24-->1 out of 2 Perks (guaranteed!), Level 25-39-->2 out of 3 Perks, Level 40-49--> 2 out of 4 Perks, Level 50+ --> 3 out of 6 Perks.
- Teachables unlock automatically and dont need to be collected in the Bloodweb--> So if you reach Level 30/35/40, you unlock one of the Teachables, same like you would do with the Perk Slots without the need of doing a Bloodweb for them.
Other things that can be considered:
When players prestige, they keep their already acquired Perks at least at Tier 1. This means that someone who prestiges will already start with a somewhat decent Perk Build and they have some Perks less to get. And, given the fact that we have Prestige Rewards at some point in the future, it would help players decide if they want to prestige or not, if they did not before - they would at least have all of their Perks at Tier 1, which might be an option. And this would mean that they have some Perk Builds already (or an easier grind since they have BBQ and WGLF available from the start).

I dont really care about Perk Tiers that much, some people like Tier 1 version of perks so that my reason to keeep Tiers. But i do dislike the Same Perk showing up
My Solution is that when you buy a Perk they will never show up in bloodweb. If you want to level it up go to the perk in your loadout & hovering over it gives you the option to Level it Up or Equip it

Slight side tangent but I'm genuinely curious. When did the Devs say we'd get prestige rewards? I know that rank rewards are on the horizon (as seemingly small as they may be) but I haven't heard about prestige awards.

Only tier 1 appears in the Bloodweb. Once the player purchases tier 1, they specifically put more BP into the perk to get it to tier 3.
With this system, future perks then have the option of not having tiers.

I think it was mentioned several months back, but I haven't heard anything about it since. Tbh I completely forgot it was a thing.

The game should not be balanced around new players.
Also, new players are already ######### over by having no perks, so why not let them have tier 3 common perks from really early on?

This was mentioned either in the 4th Anniversary Stream or shortly afterwards in a Q&A. Either way, it was almost a year ago.

This does not have anything to do with balancing. Not even close.
But if you start a new game and have all Perks after like 2 hours of Playtime (maybe even less with the new Tutorial), you have no new Content to unlock except for brown Tooilboxes and stuff like that.
It should not be boring when someone starts the Game, Grind is alright. Too much Grind is bad, which is why I offered Alternatives which also reduce the Grind by a lot.

You have no new content to unlock after leveling up a single character? Am I reading this correctly?
Another argument for removing perk tiers is that it allows more flexibility for creating perks, because they don't have to fit in this 1-2-3 level up mold.
For example, you can easily tell that Aftercare and Hex: The Third Seal were only worded so weirdly so that they could be leveled up.

They should have been gone years ago.

Get rid of them. If they are going to insist on keeping them then give players option to choose which tier they want to equip.

The system should remain as it is
Perk tiers barely even matter on some perks, examples like devour hope, mettle of man. Some perks are completely just not worth running at tier 1 like up the ante and aftercare. They've been changing perks to have them actually usable at tier 1 but some like up the ante cant really work that way, its forever gonna be basically useless at tier 1.
People don't like tiers on perks because the other tiers just take up room in the bloodweb and drain your bloodpoints, which makes sense. Maybe if they just made all perk tiers cost 4k or 5k bloodpoints instead of it going up because of the "rarity" of the perk.
Wouldnt mind them completely removing tiers either, and perks were just...perks.
TL;DR Not that impactful gameplay-wise, but definitely is bloodpoints wise. Wouldnt mind tiers going away but it has that nice authentic dbd touch of having to upgrade your perks.
