Dead By Daylight's Grinding Problem And How It Can Be Fixed
(I spent 30 minutes typing this and then my internet went out so I had to do it all again)
Part 1: Introduction
In Dead by Daylight, there are many problems that the community must deal with, ranging from a myriad of bugs to basic toxicity from fellow players. But the most omnipresent of these problems is the grind. In a game that's been balancing towards more casual players, this problem still remains as a turnoff for those same players. The result is a game in a state that competitive players are unhappy with, and one that casual players can't enjoy since they have to spend all of their time grinding certain killers to get certain perks, and finally, one that new players are intimidated by. This only benefits the small percentage of players who are completely fine with pouring hours upon hours into the game to make only a bit of progress. Most people who fit this demographic are a younger audience, however this game is rated M.
For these reasons, I believe that making the grind less severe benefits all players of all experience levels.
Part 2: What can be done?
Luckily, there are several solutions for solving this problem. While they would all work, there is one that I think is the best. (If you've read this far, thank you.)
increasing bp earned per match and the maximum bp cap would be more of quality of life improvements and wouldn't tackle the problem as well as other possible solutions. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be implemented, though. The former would be a massive improvement for survivor gameplay, and the latter would make the process of gaining and spending bloodpoints much easier.
Decreasing the price of all items in the bloodweb is another possible solution, but it would have to be done carefully. The fact is that for a game like dead by daylight, some sort of grind is in fact optimal, and it would be easy to overdo this and make the grind almost nonexistent. It wouldn't give a very good reason to play unless other problems in the game are also fixed. And if underdone, it will do almost nothing. Even if done just right, it doesn't eliminate the final problem I'll be touching on.
Removing perk tiers is in my opinion the best and most simple way to reduce the grind. This doesn't mean that other solutions can't also be implemented, but removing perk tiers should be prioritized.
Part 3: Why perk tiers should go
Perk tiers were a good idea when there were only 3 killers. Honestly, it wasn't much of a problem for a long time. But right now, Dead By Daylight has 5 years and 24 killers under its belt, and the fact that perk tiers still exist is unacceptable. (If you read this far, you're great!)
Let's do some quick math. There are 24 killers in Dead By Daylight. Each one has 3 teachable perks, and there are 12 perks accessible to every killer for a total of 84 (Information from Dbd wiki) All of these perks cost 4,000 to buy, 5,000 to reach level 2, and 6,000 to reach level 3, totaling 15,000 bloodpoints for one perk to reach level 3.
With 84 perks, that's 126000 bloopoints to get every perk at tier 3 for one killer. If you want all perks at tier 3 for every killer, that's 30240000 bp. Not to mention that you'll be buying offerings and addons, spending bp on killers to unlock their teachables, prestiging, and going through bloodweb after bloodweb looking for one perk to use on one killer at times. And we didn't even touch on survivors, which would be extra bp due to the Stranger Things and RE chapters having extra characters.
Part 4: What if perk tiers were removed?
So let's say that we put in a new system. 5,000 to buy a perk at level 3, no matter what.
84 x 5000= 420,000 to get all perks on one killer, not including the already mentioned factors. What if you want all perks on all killers?
420,000 x 24= 10080000, not including the already mentioned factors. I shouldn't have to tell you how much of an improvement this is.
A potential argument against this is that many players won't bother prestiging every character or getting all perks on everyone. While this might be true for some people, the root of that argument is based on what players tend to do right now- prestige no one, only grind for perks on your main killer or killers. And those tendencies are a direct product of the game's grind.
Part 5: ALternative Solutions
This part is for your suggestions. I have a bad habit of forgetting important details when making posts that take a while to type, so if I missed something, just tell me and I'll slap it here.
(If you've read this far, I love you.)

How about double the size of the bloodwebs on killers/survivors and allow 5-6 perks to be purchased out of 12 that would show up.
That way the grind doesn’t completely die but goes down about 25%....?

I'm for removing perk tiers for the sole purpose of making balancing easier and removing timers/ranges from perks that dont actually require them...

How about tickets added before the first prestige which makes perks become locked and the entity cannot claim them. You can only use 1 per bloodweb but we have all been there were our 2 main perks are in the Web, we claim one and the entity steals the other.
These tickets get less chance to spawn per prestige level until non existent in prestige 3. This is for those that like the grind.

I made a similar post. I think you might find some useful insights.

The problem is not the cost of the perk at 4, 5, or 6k.
The problem is you need to do a full bloodweb that costs around 50k in order to do it again.
Right now to take a Killer from Level 1 all the way to Prestige 3 with all perks costs roughly 10.8 million points.
Removing perk tiers would lessen this to 6.6 million points.
Survivors cost even more.
While it would be a good start, removing perk tiers simply still isn't enough with the amount of Survivors and Killers there are now.

That's why I said that the other solutions have a place and should also be added.

I MEAN THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH CONTENT AND EFFORT THEY PUT INTO THIS GAME THAT NO ONE WILL EVER EXPERIENCE BECAUSE IT TAKES THOUSANDS OF HOURS TO UNLOCK
I have 1,300 hours and still haven't started with killer teachables yet. (Unless what I want is in the Shrine)

These are all great ideas. Definitely want to see the removal of the blood cap, the removal of tier one and two perks, and the reduction of the cost of everything.
I would also like to see the web removed. Make the leveling process after 50 a store, where you just buy in dialy-limited quantities items and add-ons that you like, and are no longer forced to buy trash that you will never use. Leftover perks could then be picked up as you want, too.
I'd also like to see the total removal of prestige tiers eating your progress, so you keep any perks and items you've bought in the prior tiers.
