Survivors: Do you consider this taking the game hostage? (light rant)
A question for my fellow Survivors!
In the majority of games that I have played in the past two weeks when there are two Survivors left in the match the Killer will slug to ensure that the hatch opening is never an option. I have played a few rounds where Survivors have called this taking the game hostage. Some talking about reporting over it.
I consider it a cheap tactic and a sign of the Killer knowing that the two remaining Survivors (usually who are at no/one hook and have outplayed them in the match before) are more skilled and that one will escape. I personally view it as sweaty and boring, but I don't think it is taking the game hostage which is a reportable offense. That might be the 'saltiest' thing I've said on these forums and it's not meant to instigate anything. 😅
The counter to this is obviously to bring keys. I've been extremely outspoken for literal years about how anti-key I am but at this point it is the only viable counter to this kind of gameplay. I've got over 75 red keys in my inventory because I've never used them. Countless greens with countless add-ons. As unfun for me as it will be to have to start using them I'm nearing that point.
So, Survivors, how do you feel?

This isn't taking the game hostage. It's extremely bad sportsmanship but isn't taking the game hostage.

It's not holding the game hostage by any reasonable definition of the term. I also don't think it's bad sportsmanship or anything like that.

It's not. The game can end when everyone bleeds out. What anyone thinks about it is beside the point, since the rules clearly state it's not taking the game hostage.

Honestly, even as a killer that thinks survivors are whining about silly stuff, like "tunneling" (advancing a hook stage instead of chasing the unhooker) or proximity camping (3 gen, especially with a hook target while they aren't doing gens) when it is realistically the only option you should take unless you decide to be nice and soft throw... But this? I can see where they are coming from. That is just not necessary. What's wrong with hooking the person so they can struggle and end the game? You still have time to go for the person around hatch without slugging the semi last survivor.

It's not taking the game hostage; there's a 4-minute timer until you bleed out. I personally won't slug for the 4k by choice, but if I'm doing an achievement or rift challenge that demands I 4k, it's often my only option to prevent my hard work and/or good luck from coming undone at the last second. Blame the game.

It forces someone to either get the person up and thus start the cycle of the Killer slugging one while they look for the other person all over OR to sit and wait literally four minutes just for someone to bleed out. It artificially drug one of my matches out for 7 minutes the other night, it was excruciating.
I dislike keys as a concept but it's sadly becoming the only counter to this 'terrified of the hatch' style of gameplay. Of course it then invites all of the unpleasantries that come with bringing a key into the match so it's kind of a lose-lose.
