I just had an interaction.

Survivor: Learn to play. Uninstall the game.

I don't like engaging in toxic chat at all, its boring and its mostly just children. All i tried to type in response is

This was a delightful meme of a nonplussed looking mushroom fella, and i felt it got my "ok bro, i don't care, have a good day" energy across.


Game censors it to '#############


Now toxic survivor thinks im just calling them a slur or something instead, and gets more angry, starts leaving comments on my steam profile.



Whatever unknowable entity that crafted the profanity filter as it is, is only increasing possible toxic situations, not the other way around.

I'd like to keep text chat, Ive had good wholesome experiences in pre and post game chats despite toxicity, but as it is now its barley functional.

    I'm guessing it's because the format of what you typed is similar to a URL. If you'd typed "ok bro, i don't care, have a good day", I doubt it would've been blocked.

    Personally, I've never had the filter block anything I've said, including things that some people have reported having been blocked.

    PS: If you want the chat removed, you can just close it. There's no need to prevent everyone from using it if you're the one who wants it gone.

    Not sure why the Report button for language exists anymore...

    Since it's very hard to determine what's a normal word, a slur, or a racial slur...




    I'm also here to remind BHVR I'm an adult and I don't need my hand to be held...

    I 100% agree. Those that are sensitive can leave it on and those of us that are thick skinned can have it on. I find it annoying. I want to see what someone says, not have to guess. I don't like the "nanny" telling me what I can and can't see or say. Save that garbage for Communist China.

    They really should axe it, I'm on console so it's not a problem for me, but im glad it's not there, it's really just asking for trouble all around.

    Why does the game have a profanity filter when it's an M-rated game and there are swears in the perk flavor text.

    Like I get racial slurs and all but either have all the profanity or none of it.
