They should make the game next gen console available only? Like in the Xbox store if a game is not optimized for last gen consoles they should change the description to series s and series x only. The game wouldn't even be able to be downloaded by last gen if they took this step. At least we would finally get an answer about last gen optimization.

I'd imagine there's still more last gen players than new gen players, so it's probably not going to happen any time soon.

I'd give it a couple years yet, and even then it'll probably still be available, they just won't be supporting it with more dedicated fixes and optimisation.

It wouldn't be very fair on the people who bought it on previous gen. And considering how bad this game ran on the xbox one X or PS4 Pro its not a hardware issue. It's a dev issue.

But it runs great on PS5, so is it a hardware issue or not?

I think it could possibly be. With games now becoming more detailed and having better graphics it uses more ram and causes the machines to work harder. Since games are going more toward needing pc specs last gen was no where near that threshold and we are seeing specific games unable to function on them. More effects means more work as well. In order for everything to appear or act as it should, higher specs are needed in the hardware.

Heh if that was going to happen BHVR would have the game running on current gen at 60fps with no stutters in a week before they were forced to return all that resident evil money

I think this is actually true, is there any other game so small in scale that's riddled with all these performance issues ?, I played plenty of bad ports in my time but the fundamental game was at least serviceable.

    Both.

The game is simply not the same game on each system. The optimization for each one is going to be different. Clearly, something went wrong with the latest DLC that is taxing the older consoles too heavily. If I had to guess, it's shader related, though I have no way of knowing for certain. Furthermore, the game is hardly streamlined from the get-go, with its constant hiccups and odd pauses between actions suggesting the code is in dire need of being cleaned up. All of this piled onto older hardware without optimizations to make it work better on said hardware can and will cause issues.

Not sure I agree with that.

I bought this game on PC back in 2016. At the time, my machine was from 2014. That computer I used to play on, however, cannot possibly keep up with the game in its current state. I had to switch to a newer machine years ago. I don't think it's reasonable to say the game can't advance past the point of what older consoles are capable of running. It's the norm for PCs, and nothing makes console any different.

But I do agree that if even the newer consoles are struggling, phasing out support for older consoles wouldn't fix the problem anyway.

DBD in its current state, if written and correctly optimized poses absolutely no challenge to current gen hardware in the slightest, I don't know how you can look at the entire catalog of current gen games that tax the systems so far beyond anything DBD comes close to and draw the conclusion that DBD has advanced beyond them.

DBD's spaghetti code has had more and more crap bolted on the side of it rather than it getting rewritten properly, that is the only issue tanking pc/current gen, that's the developers mess to fix especially when they continue to sell to those platforms.

What kind of entitled BS is that? ######### everyone who owns and plays this game on last-gen consoles? DbD isn't a new release, you can't just rip it away from people that invested time and money into it just to jerk of the Devs.

I dont think its fair to rule out last-gen consoles. A lot of people just cant get their hands on one at the moment. Just cutting them off is just so extreme, especially when you can barely get or afford one.

    So handsome when you're angry...

Seriously, though, this is absolutely correct.

If my console can run modern warfare with 0 issues theres no reason at all for it to have problems with dbd
