Not running any second chance perks as survivor makes you a liability
The last few days of this sweaty event has shown me that the new killer meta is to tunnel a single survivor out of the game as quickly as possible, no nuances needed. Killers I queue into are consistently trying to remove someone from the game to ease the pressure. Which leads me to this conclusion...
If you aren't running second chance perk(s) as a survivor, you are a liability for your team.
If the killer chooses you as the first chase and first hook, and consequently tunnels you into struggle hook, it's all but already a 3v1 because if they tunneled you once, they're tunneling you twice.
I'm not asking for every survivor to run the same boring build, but isn't it more boring for you to be forced into a seemingly helpless 3v1?

I mean I'm happy running my plunderers build during the event

Not if you can play at the rank you're at. I can be perkless and still play insanely well, issue is so many survivors are in ranks they dont belong. Killers too but far more survivors, not trying to be mean to anyone but not everyone is as strong as their rank suggests

... I'm grinding during this event earning BP so I can unlock teachables and level up my desired survivor(s)... I can't run perks I don't have, yet. As I level up a character, they're the one with the cakes, so it's either play as them and use the cakes or play as someone with better perks but then I don't have any cakes to use... I doubt I'm the only person facing this dilemma.
Were this a straight-up Double BP event, playing survivor would be a lot less frustrating.

Doesn't matter if you're perfect, if the killer wants you dead — you're dying, like it or not. The best you can do is stall for your team by dragging out the process.

Yeah I mean survivors should be running the best stuff in the game in the same way killers should be as well. That's just how competitive games roll.

This.

I’ve put DS back on, because killers don’t respect it at all anymore. It’s saved my ass big time.

Okay but you arent meant to escape every game, like seriously accept you wont. Doesnt take away the possibility to run the killer for a huge amount of time regardless.

God I've been wishing I could use DS, but I have trouble with that skill check on a normal day and between console performance issues and now inconsistent skill check speeds and controller lag... [[sigh]] I'm wasting two perk slots on Technician and Bite the Bullet just because I'm having so much trouble hitting skill checks.
I've never wanted to use DS as badly as I have this past week.

I escape and earn the most BP in most games I play. The only "second chance" perk I run, sometimes, is Borrowed Time. 🤷♂️
I don't care about running "the best" perks. This is DBD and I value fun over "winning" or "being the best" or "playing like everyone else". Anyone can play any perks they want.
Doesn't give anyone the right to try and police what perks other players are running.
Sorry some of you are so sweaty and obsessed with "winning" at all costs that you think you have some right to control how others play. Many of us run what perks we feel like running. Too bad for you.

For solo queue BT and DS are a must have. I also feel forced to have one team info perk whether it be kindred or bond
Then I need WGLF for BP and you start to realise why build variety is so bad

Serious question: What are you talking about? Where, in any capacity, did I try to control how someone plays the game?
Here's the comment you quoted: I don't see anything.
In a nutshell, all I said is that your skill doesn't matter against a killer who wants you dead. Did you quote the wrong person on accident?

I've been playing for the past two days with no perks, and I've only had a few bad games, so this feels like an excuse more than anything.

Try solo queueing at red ranks vs rank 1 killers. Countless games where someone is tunneled out early, and the snowball begins...

I totally agree. I'm usually at red rank, but I consider myself being a high green/low purple rank in terms of skills to run the Killer.
And seeing my teammates, most of them are the same as me.

I play both killer and survivor. I try not to tunnel for the most part (if I find you 2 minutes later injured and working on a gen I'm probably not going to ignore you lol). So DS isn't really an issue even though I see people running it still.
As survivor I play soloq, so my priorities are on pipping not surviving in most cases. I follow rule of 2 (2gens, 2 totems, 2 unhooks and 2 good chases).
Elodie:
Small Game/Inner Strength/Head On/Bond
Bill:
WGLF/BT/Bond/Deliverance
I'm working on Lithe/Q&Q build now. I want to get better in chases and help team.

Which is totally fine, not everyone is gonna be amazing at chases but I feel like people feel like they have to be able to play at top level because they see streamers do it or because their rank shows they should. It's why balance is an issue as people see the rank 1 but dont play like one so they think it's not balanced. People need to understand to have fun again tbh, while I dont know your skill it's good to see you know where you are roughly and alot of people cant so bravo mate, wish more could be like that

With all the amazing players you see on here, it's amazing that you all aren't ending up in the same matches playing so perfectly against each other. Somehow, there's so many people that can run the killer for 5 generators, manage godly chases, cleanse all the totems, repair all the generators, open all the chests, solve world hunger and beat billionaires to make the first vanity trip to space.
But somehow, in reality, I'm betting that there's some hubris in all these comments. With four people in each game, you all can't possible be carrying as much as you let on.
For myself, for a number of killers, DS seems to just be a delay because they recover from the stun and just get right back on the chase. I do use it sometimes and some of the other second chance perks for slugging and hooking but they all end up feeling very situational and might not come into play for many matches so I end up churning through them to try to settle on which ones are the most useful during the most matches.

i can´t run bond anymore. Its just too frustrating if you can see what your teammates are doing in solo queue...

It's funny, how in red ranks and solo q I still get really bad team mates, but then I come on the forums and all these people saying they escape most of their games perkless.
Makes you wonder which game they're actually playing. Not solo q at red ranks that's for sure.
