Totem Spawns Feel Broken (EZ to find)

After multiple Killer games back to back to back where Ruin or Devour Hope gets cleansed within 30s - 1 minute of the game beginning, or both Hexes on whatever killer I run before any gens are even touched, I've come to the conclusion that it must be that the Totem Spawns are at fault.

inb4 Survivor mains rush to cry about NOED, I'm all for a nerf to NOED. I especially like Otz's suggestion that it should give you a token for each hook during the trial, and remove one token for each successful hit.

However, the concept NOED embodies: that Survivors shouldn't be able to easily gen rush without recourse, imo is an important one that promotes healthy gameplay.

I'm especially disheartened every time Devour Hope gets cleansed super quickly, it promotes more enjoyable gameplay on both sides imo. It gives the Killer a good reason to personally try not to camp/tunnel, and it presents the Survivors with a different kind of threat they'll have to attend to in the medium - long term.

But since many Totem spawns are guaranteed, and it's not that hard to memorize the likely spots on many maps, it seems impossible to keep them up.

My question for you all:

Do you agree or disagree about Totems being too easy to find even without Detective's Hunch/Small Game?

If you agree, what do you think needs to be done about it?

I once literally spawned right next to a hex totem and a gen, both in view during the spinning cam thing

Yeah, every game I go to check my totem just to see if I will have it for the rest of the game and at least half the time, I assume we are going to have a very vanilla match.

Can anything be done about it?

Is there any sort of suggestions/feedback channel of communication with BHVR that we are able to pursue? Perhaps a large enough poll?

Outside of larger content creators making a big fuss about something on twitter, it doesn't feel like there's any way to communicate with BHVR or have our concerns even acknowledged, let alone addressed.

I have seen a few really well hidden totems recently. Unfortunately for every 1 hard to find totem there are 4 sitting in the open. The rng needs to have totems and gens cancel out spawning in close proximity. Forcing players to search away from the main objective would be a nice adjustment for extending matches without changing gens.

I still propose to put totems in some kind of little alcoves for example inside trees, empty slightly broken boxes and so on.

This would help to make them only visible from 1 side (90-120°) and not 3 to 4 sides (270-360°). And maybe don't put them so obviously on landmarks like the killer shack, that totem has the alcove aspect but damn if it isn't hitting you in your face with its presence when come into the opposite door.

    Same.

I don’t use hex totems when I play killer, but from a survivor standpoint they seem decent. The spawning next to them needs to be fixed, though. They keep changing locations every chapter and mid chapter. There’s been a few games where me and the other survivors wasted all our hooks looking for that last ruin totem and could never find it. Had we done the last 2 or 3 gens in that time instead, some of us could have made it out.

This is why old Undying was better. I had no complaints against it. Made games tougher, but when you beat it and made it out, you had a great sense of accomplishment. I felt like it taught the survivors: “oh, you don’t want cleanse dull totems, huh? Well you’re going to want to now.”
