Needlessly Rude

I don't know if anyone else has felt it or noticed it, but man, I've had a lot of needlessly rude games as Killer and Survivor during this event. I know this happens to some degree every event, but it just feels like it's even worse then usual right now. From Survivor groups that decide to throw the entire game to be bad Flashlight bullies to full DC squads to a night full of Killers who did nothing but camp and tunnel while having egos bigger then the Kardashian's bank account, I've seen it all this event, and it's only getting worse. (I swear, I played with my buds for a few hours tonight, and every game we had someone camping and tunneling hooks. Every. Single. Game.)

Idk, I just wish we had more empathy on both sides, or some sort of community rank system based on behaviour. (Or, both would be good.) I think the game could be a lot better if we had a system that rewarded good behaviour and actually... you know, trying to be good to your fellow players. I've been playing for over 2k hours at this point, been around since Legion's launch- and despite the game getting more fair, it feels like the community is still needlessly volatile towards each other in-game, and it's just getting... tiring. I love this game, but I don't know how, as players, we're expected to maintain this long grind if there isn't more support against these types of behaviour. I'm not saying every person who's ever camped or tunneled should be banned (We've all done it, and I understand why it has to be in the game ) but at the same time, I don't think there's a reason why we can't see better support in-game for more positive behaviour from people.

I see what you are saying but.. how many gens got done vs how many hooks did the killer have when they started camping?

There are way too many things to address in everything you’ve said, but generally I agree.

The thing is, by nature this type of game tends to bring the ugly out of people. I am including myself in that because sometimes I engage in conversations that I later regret giving them any attention at all.

I think for me, I look at it this way. It’s just a game, and that’s not to say that you should shut off how you feel, but also understand that 99% of the time no matter what you say, that other person thinks you are their enemy at that moment simply because you were the opposing side. They are going to see every little bit of strategy used as you were just bad and opted to play scummy.

I am not saying that there aren’t those people who opt to camping or tunneling simply because they want to be annoying. Certainly those people do exist.

I think the most important part is that you have fun, if your matches aren’t going in any other direction than constantly being camped or BM’d and it’s getting to you. Take a break. The game is no longer being fun.

The last thing I personally wanna do is go into a match and have to play therapist afterwards b/c someone had a problem with something I did. If I want to point something out I will, but I am not going to spend a long session trying to get someone to see the brighter side of DBD.

@unluckycombo what rank are you and your bud(s)?

Fortunately I haven’t dealt with too many tunnelers but I do see a lot more wannabe flashlight bullies on my team and it’s annoying. Mostly streamers with the YT and TTV in their handles. Then have the nerve to DC when the killer owns their ass. Those killers were always cool and let me pip before killing me or just let me escape, due to those asshats trying to get content for their channel. Literally pulling away from me injured, mid heal- trying to get a flashlight save. They miss it, then get downed instantly while they were 80% healed smh. I wish someone would tell them those bully DBD channels are either staged or smurfin in low ranks.

wells..i have not been having any good matches since day one of playing dead by daylight. i have blocked many players on steam,ps-4,switch that was a hardcore bully in my matches. if a bully attacks me and doesn't let me play the game they will be blocked asap and i evacuate the match until theres one thats fair and no bullies. i will not accept these types of matches.

Why can’t giving props to players award BP? That way it encourages a level of healthy gameplay from both sides

    Pretty much, yeah.

Nasty people set up shop, choose a tribe and sling whatever they've got at the other side. It's gross.

Giving props really should do.. like, anything. Like hey-- in League, if you get enough props, you gain key fragments that help you get cool skins. Why don't you get bloodpoints for getting props? Or hell, a bloodpoint multiplier. A small amount of shards. A symbol next to your name that denotes you being a real cool fella. A whole different currency specifically for cosmetics. Anything, BHVR.

By it's nature, Dead By Daylight does have an issue whereby some players become completely attached to one side only and refuse to see the other side, believing all players on the otherside to be one and the same.

It's also - as all pvp games - competitive in nature, and unfortunately there are some out there who are incapable of understanding empathy, humility and being a decent person; instead hiding behind a cold mask of apathy to hide their insecurity that they will never be good enough in their eyes.

There are good people out there on both sides, but it's tougher to be humble and respectful than be a dick, apparently. Those tend to be the ones who demand respect for nothing.

The best thing to do is to mark those trials which end up positive or neutral as ones to highlight and remember. That is harder, since the mind is more tuned into remembering scenarios to avoid, but you'll probably find there are more neutral and positives combined overall, compared to negative experiences.
