A hot topic for a lot of people, so I thought I’d jump in and give my ideas for her.

I love playing her but admittedly so, she’s fundamentally flawed due to a lack of interaction and knowledge of what she is doing.

But on the flip side, you can’t make it so the Spirit has little information to work with. Which is the debated topic of Iron Will and Stridor and now that Stridor is changed it needs to be brought to attention that Iron Will makes a survivor completely dead silent. They don’t breathe or make any noise besides footsteps. A healthy survivor is easier to track that one with Iron Will. Yes, survivors still move grass and corn but a competent survivor isn’t going to run or make any scratch marks leading the Spirit making blind guesses since there is no sound coming from the survivor to work with.

Which is why I suggest that BOTH Iron Will and Stridor are ineffective against a Spirit while she is phasing and the Spirit hears all sounds at 50% their base volume and nothing can effect this change. Leading to the Spirit always having some sort of sound to work with while survivors are muffled leading to more of an opportunity to confuse her tracking.

Survivors also have a lack of information when in a chase leading to blind guesses as well. Which is why Spirit should have these changes.

  • Spirit moves the environment (grass and corn)
  • Spirit makes a noise notification that she has begun phasing
  • Spirit makes small glimpses of her location while phasing (like old Freddy)
  • You can hear Spirit’s breathing while phasing and her footsteps at a slightly increased volume.

This makes it so both sides are on a pretty even playing field of knowing the opposing sides location leading to less blind guesses.

Any thoughts?

Deafening Spirit is not the right call. Her whole entire power is her relying on sound. Eliminate her being able to hear anything and she’s awful.

IMO it shouldn’t be a straight up guessing game for either side. Both the Spirit and the survivors should have a clue of what the other is doing and where they are leading to both sides having to make the correct call while in a chase. The guessing game is just like “yay I got a down because I landed on heads” or “yay I got away because I landed on tails”.

I don't agree with the idea of deafening Spirit but I do believe that she'd still be powerful in the hands of good Spirit players.

I like these ideas, it gives room for more counterplay against Spirit.

My idea was that since hearing her phase rush is based on her husk's terror radius, that the husk would gain insidious; thereby having no terror radius, and forcing every survivor to hear the phase rush regardless of proximity, if the spirit stood still for too long before activating her power. I thought it would give spirit players a new avenue to mind game, while simultaneously nerfing the most annoying part of her 'kit'.

    Addon changes would include:

    • Drop Dried Cherry Blossoms to Rare tier.
    • Convert Prayer Bead Bracelet to be the very rare passive phasing addon, slightly buffing it over Dried Cherry Blossoms, increasing viability. Also light up the addon on the HUD when it activates, allowing players to more actively take advantage of passive phasing. (Must use any phasing addon to see this information.)
    • Raise Bloody Hair Brooch to very rare in accordance with its new power budget value.

I like it but I also want to bring up this idea, it shares a little bit of similarity:

I think a rework like either yours or mine is worth the devs consideration and work for sure

What is the need in deafening Spirit when her PRIME form of tracking is easily sound? We all know it’s primarily sound which is why every Spirit uses Stridor. it doesn’t have to physically say in the description of the power that her primary tracking is sound and audio.

Yes she has the environment (grass and corn moving) and scratch marks but a survivor can walk and make no scratch marks leading to Spirit tracking how? You guessed it. Sound. And it’s not just grunts of pain. It’s grass rustling, breathing, footsteps, checking chests, gen repairing sounds, locker opening. You deafen her and she has NONE of that to work with, just pure sight which she cannot physically see survivors so that’s just inconsistent and turns her tracking into a pure guessing game.

Deafening her would just be bad for her.

I like this idea! I just see a lot of people also complain about purely guessing of her location while phasing so that would need some attention as well.

Let me ask this….what is the purpose in deafening her when it’s gonna be a pure guessing game on her part? There is zero purpose in deafening her when she is always primarily tracking on sound. You can disagree, that is fine. But I will always believe her prime form of tracking is sound. She needs some kind of sound from the survivors to work with.

And in my suggestion I gave clear counterplay. The Freddy like glimpses, the indication of phasing, breathing sounds from Spirit while phasing, louder footsteps while phasing, moving grass and corn. I feel like this is PLENTY of counterplay.

By the way Nurse is not a 50/50. It’s basically whether or not the Nurse is good. She’s good? Well. You’re dead. People just don’t complain about her as much because she’s hard to play so she gives as pass. She’s the most BS killer in the game but unlike Spirit she gives indication if what she is doing.

I do like the cold air idea, that’s a neat idea.

All I want is for Spirit to have some kind of indication of where the survivor is so it’s not a complete guessing game. I also don’t want the survivor to complete guess either. the guessing game is fine but both sides should have SOME form of indication. Spirit it should be some kind of sound and for survivor it should be visual. Her being completely deafened just doesn’t sit right with me.

My last thoughts on Nurse. She has counterplay in form of you can see what she is doing and make a play unlike Spirit who is basically a guess, but whether you go down or not is in the hands of Nurse. A good Nurse equals death. You just hope she screws up.

For this I suggested going to the lore of phantoms and spirits where they cause cold spots. Gameplay wise it would be represented by a light fog (specific to the color of the map) so that aware survivors could generally see spirit in her phase similarly to wraith shimmer in his stealth.
