How Would you Like to See a Backrooms Map?
If you're familiar with the internet creepypasta of the 'Backrooms', then you'd know what I'm referring to; that picture of monotone, yellowed walls and struggling fluorescent lights accompanied by poor wall architecture and the occasional offshoot of hallways and storage rooms... those abandoned rooms, continuous and enclosed, lonely and besieged by the same invading yellow room in and room out... needless to say, the Backrooms, and any 'liminal spaces' like it, are terrifying. At least they are to me.
So with that said (and with a picture attached for reference), how would you like to see a DBD integration of map similar to the Backrooms? This would clearly be a very indoor map with little room for outside space, if any, but I still believe this would really add an element of horror to the game for a handful of players like myself. Playing a match against the Killer in a slightly larger map with repetitive rooms and an eerie buzzing light following you throughout... that just sounds chilling to the bone.
Please leave your suggestions or disagreements -- or, on the contrary, support -- in the comments. I'm looking forward to hearing everybody's thoughts!
P.S: This is of course an in-the-future-concept, there's so much that BHVR has to clean up before we get any new content added.

I think with some twists to the core idea of the Backrooms, this could work.
Certainly. I had Gideon and Hawkins in mind when comparing sizes in my head, but I feel this would give off a different vibe entirely.

I can't see the Backrooms in DBD, they just don't fit the theme...
Personally I feel a lot of the creepiness of the back rooms comes from the lack of information about them. So being able to fully explore a back room based map while also knowing exactly what is in there with you would kill the vibe the back rooms have.

I didn't have any knowledge about the backrooms previous to this thread, after reading them I suppose I can imagine it as a unique kind of horror in a literary sense or even in a Stephen King-like film, but in Dead By Daylight it seems like a very, very, odd choice...
Also indoor maps have a bad reputation amongst most of the community for their gameplay (which is pretty ironic- since I distinctly remember a time when the community begged to have their first creepy indoor maps added to the game like the classic decrepit hospital or abandoned warehouse or an eerie mansion).
This seems like it'd be the most indoor of all indoor maps with very little hope for a rework without sacrificing the aesthetic aspects of the map. Tight- identical rooms one after the other just incessantly repeating amongst themselves would probably be filled with some of the worst and best kinds of pallets- useless ones that might be in the center of the rooms and super powerful ones that exist along the doorways themselves. There'd also be very few if any sightlines across the map itself and you'd likely suffer from the problem of a killer being stuck with an area of interest right next to them like a generator about to be completed but they need to go all the way around a super long wall or other obstacle to get to where they want to.
So not sure, very on the fence about this one. But there's no poll option available for "on the fence" / "maybe" / "unsure".

I did try to tend to that view in my head while concepting, but that's why I poked at their being some sort of revision of the core idea of the Backrooms. It's true that for some time enclosed maps have had a foul reputation for being 'survivor-tailored' or near impossible for most killers to traverse while keeping tabs on the map, but that's where we can shuffle it up a little. The Backrooms aren't necessarily the same rooms repeated in an endless cycle, but similarly shaped ones which are interconnected through doorways, arches, and sometimes long hallways. In these hallways we can introduce all manner of things, from differently shaped rooms to even wider arches with wider rooms. I get it though... poor idea for the game haha
