So... Survivors are now being crybabies over Lightborn.

The amount of DC’s I’ve been experiencing currently just because someone couldn’t blind me, and instead takes a hit is beyond laughable.

I’ve even had a whole team DC because I equipped Lightborn when all 4 survivors took a flashlight in. The very first blind that was attempted on me that resulted in a down had that survivor DC, and then I’m presuming they were all SWF and it was communicated I’m running Lightborn, because then EVERYONE else DC’d.

Seriously, of all the things in this game to get salty over...sheesh.

I just had the same thing happen. The survivor was positively frothing at the mouth. I'm not a particularly high rank killer (rank 12, currently) so if I see a lobby of flashlights, i take lightborn. I love faking the look away while I run the survivor down.

Jills DC if you chase/down them first, especially as Nemesis. it's like they're playing with Deliverance or something.

You act as If they were never crybabies about lightborn before now. The 2 new perks from the RE chapter just made it more obvious. Hell, bringing lightborn before it was complete immunity still generated high amounts of salt.

On the one hand, it is just Lightborn, but on the other hand there's more than a few stun/blind challenges so that's probably why a lot of people are DCing.

They took it too far because they failed.

It's obvious that blindness no longer work if the killer is aware, i think blindness should get rework then. otherwise it's just useless.

Well, I have no idea if that was the reason why those survivors decided to DC from my trials, but by the Entity I am glad they did.

It was Dead Dawg Saloon, so I didn't want to stay there.

I was using Lightborn on my Hillbilly the last few nights because why not and it certainly disables flashlight squads like it always has real good.

I have no idea why people like Franklin's so much unless it's to knock a key out of someone's hand (that they'll immediately just hide somewhere) since you still have to M1 them. Lightborn is free and has always been a stellar choice while working at all times.

It does feel kinda funny to walk towards someone who is beaming you and getting a free hit, but the aura reading is killer.

That I understand. Dead Dawg is unironically one of my favourite survivor maps, but I get why killers and fellow survivors hate it. It's like me and PH, I just always get bad or creative ones these days and they're pretty fun.

And that is, unironically, the map which I hate most. But then again, this is very subjective.

And you are getting PH in your trials? That is nice, haven't seen one in ages.

Honestly, it seems like everything gets complained now.

Yeah, a few. The most recent of which was on Dead Dawg last time I played, hence the connection on my mind

Edit: I also do think Dead Dawg needs some changes, pleasing a minority of people doesn't make a map good or fun

I mean, if they were rash enough to bring four beamers, they were asking for that.

Thanks to Leon and Jill's new perks, running lightborn has made this perk so much more useful. I had a game where a Jill activated a blast mine on a generator that I kicked. Thanks to the perk, the aura of where she was hiding lasted longer than the stun so I made a beeline straight for her! It's definitely a fun, and much more useful perk to use now!

Franklin's can theoretically deplete the flashlight batteries before the survivors even get the chance to use it while also being able to handle other types of items.

Lightborn at least these days can reveal Jills across the map.

It’s not exactly an illogical assumption though. The only time I’ve had 4 survivors DC during this period of no penalty is the one time it was all 4 bringing in flashlights whilst I was running Lightborn, and after one of them realised I was running it.

It's probably a perk that I'm gonna run more even if I don't see flashlights cause of blast mine and flashbang. I refuse to get blind lol and again the aura information is wonderful.

It's not a great perk to run if you don't see any flashlights (or Leons or Jills, I guess) because it's very, very common that it will get you no value in the match. Flashbangs are pretty easy to avoid and Blast Mine is rare, both in survivors bringing the perk and actually getting hit with it. It's not worth bringing Lightborn for the possibility that a survivor finds a flashlight in the match and is brave enough to try using it.

Plus it's kind of like Spine Chill - it's fantastic when the stars align and you really need it, but otherwise it just teaches you complacency and bad habits.

It really is! Being able to see the aura of the person that stunned you is highly effective!

It’s a bogus perk with no counter play or feedback, punishes a survivor for simply trying to use an item for its intended purpose. There’s no other perk like it in the game, should be nerfed/reworked.

All of the survivor perks that were thought to counter specific killers were changed; why is a perk targeting one specific item still okay?

  • mexicowl
    mexicowl Member Posts: 53

Yeah but thing is there are tons of other perks much better than lightborn, its a very niche perk and very few of us use it and most who use are just tired of getting blinded over and over making it so no progress is made on hooks. For those reasons its good that it works the way it does.

I think it’s because they’re expecting him to be roleplaying Resident Evil 3 by only going after Jill since she’s a STARS member and they don’t want that so they just leave.

Honestly I don't see the point of raging about lightborn wasn't old lightborn like 75% or something I remember it basically being impossible to blind killers then

  • NMCKE

Nothing against Lightborn, but it's takes positioning and timing to get the save. Upon that, the killer can easily bait out the flashlight user by pretending to pick up or just use a wall to make the save impossible.

Again, I'm fine with Lightborn, but flashlights are fine.

Play surv more than Killer. Have yet to 'cry' over Lightborn. Don't count 'us' as a monolith anymore than you want to be counted as a Killer monolith.

Really hate how that handfull of survivors represent all survivors so you can make swooping statements like that.

Also I'm sure the dc penalty being off has nothing to do with it.....

It's not a new hatred. They have always hated it. They are just happy no one ever runs it so they can 4 man spam blind killers and then tbag over and over. But survivors complain about the killer being the game.

    Well…

in an attempt to keep things balanced, Im going to become a killer main that complains about Technician.

    Now we’re all balanced.

How does baiting help? They can still just blind you when you actually go for the pick up, no?

  • Customapple0
    Customapple0 Member Posts: 629

Well you can’t really blame them, it makes flashlights and blinding devices completely useless unless it’s a hag or wraith.

For reference we have a lot of people complaining about Iron will trumping Stridor in the PTB, yet it’s fine if a survivor item is made completely useless by a perk.

Well... the amount of DCs i've been experiencing with killers who cant counter-loop in red ranks is more staggering. Everyone cries.

I don't have a problem with flashlights or their counters, what annoys me most is pallet blinds. Because of my eye problems that sudden bright light is physically painful so I bring Lightborn to not have to deal with it. I like to think of it like a perk to prevent/deter annoying things survivors do, like Starstruck, Mad Grit, Iron Grasp, Agitation, and STBFL against body blocking hooks.

I can second you on people DCing when one person DCs because one game I had someone got downed first and DC'd then someone else DC'd right after

Still it's mostly newer players that use it. I remember being new not having a clue about how to avoid flashlights, or even that they existed. Flashlights almost made me quit the game 😀

Not sure what rank this is, but I’m happy when a killer has lightborn. Means they used a perk, when they could’ve had something better. I almost always use medkits anyway, they’re much stronger than the other items generally.
