The New(ish) Franklin's Demise

What does you all think about the newly (kind of) adjusted version of Franklin's where the item isn't CONSUMED at the end of the timer?

Also, how does that affect key usage for the hatch?

Right now, keys with 0 charges can still open the hatch but that is getting changed with the upcoming midchapter.

i liked old franklins more ofc

Once keys won't open hatch with 0 charges (next mid-chapter), Franklin's change will be a straight up buff.

    Ain't no arguing with that

New Franklin’s is actually a lot better and less annoying since if you escape you can still keep your item

Not meant to be toxic but i loved to play item trapper and secure items instead of gens n hooks. Was so much fun. ;(

New Franklin's is more effective, especially against med-kits. So that's a plus. Overall, it's a healthy buff compared to the troll version with despawning.

They should still nerf its interaction with White Ward, imho.

But other than that, good change.

Pre-change Franklins was only really useful against keys and maybe flashlights, but you had to ensure that the items get comsumed by camping them, otherwise it would be picked up again, reset the "destruction" timer.

New Franklins can totally destroy any item usage now, draining medkits, flashlights, maps, keys for aura reveal of their charges. Toolboxes are not effected when they are used at the start opf the match, obviously. Compared to Pre-change Franklins, even short durations on the ground will have an effect and drain some charges. And if you do not get the chance to pick your item up in a timely fashion (e.g. being hooked), the charges will be gone fast, and your item is useless, without you having any chance to use it. The only thing that new Franklins does not counter right now is key escapes, but thats going to change with the mimd chapter patch (when keys require at least one charge for opening the hatch).

So all in all, the new Franklins received a massive buff against all items except keys as of now, and will outperform the pre-change one totally when the mid-chaper update kicks in.

Edit: An on top of that, I think it's even more fair now, since you do not loose the item anymore. So you have a chance to take it with you when escaping. New Franklins works against the item usage now, not the item itself, which is more healthy imo.

Still a meme perk imo. I'll probably just run it when I see 4 toolboxes just to annoy people but it's never a perk I'd consider. Keys aren't a problem for me because I never have 3/4 survivors alive at end game enough for them to matter.

And now that items don't disappear due to franklin's shouldn't it be better for you? I mean..the bait is not going to disappear anymore 😈

I always thought that trapping items worked and they'd step into the trap if they tried and picked up the item. It doesn't work, they can pick it up without stepping into the trap.

But i wanted to take the item away from them.

That sounds a bit toxic but it was really fun and it felt awesome seeing how they go out of the exit without their 4 flashys. :c

Hoarder is awesome for this. Also sometimes they still clip into the trap somehow.

I think Franklin's is more useful now tbh. I honestly love tearing into medkits. Before, if the item was 99d and the surv picked it up, it felt like a waste on your end. Now they get a dead item. The item not disappearing is annoying sure, but on the whole I think the changes were a positive one. I just can't wait for key changes that's all.

It's way better now that keys were addressed. Even if the survivor goes back for their item, its use is diminished; good for flashlights and maps, amazing on medkits where a little lost percentage removes the potential for a self heal. (Toolboxes were never a good Franklins target because unless they're sabo boxes, they're typically used up at the start of the match.)

IMO it's better than old franklins and it'll be stronger once keys with no charges can't open hatch anymore.

You can still do that with Trapper, Pyramid, Hag, what have you. In fact, I LOVE running Franklin's + Hoarder on Pyramid to leave trails over items. They either let the item die out or take the torment 😈
