It's time to allow killers to ban realms

How to discuss killer balance if killer's performance is drastically impacted by realms?

Examples on the end of the spectrum are Nurse on Raccon City/Lery's/Haddonfield (indoor maps) and Stealthy killers on Autohaven Wreckers/The MacMillan Estate (outdoor maps).

Now that we have enough realms, also enough killers, we can allow banning 3 or 4 realms without worring about diversity.

What's your opinion on this? Do you think killer balancing data is accurate considering the huge RNG on maps?

Map voting? Nooo.. that'd be way to sided unfortunately. It would be nice, but it would be way too strong.

That's what I'm trying to discuss... For example, people say Nurse is strong. But Nurse is strong on every map equally? What about ghostface? Is ghostface as strong on Autohaven as he is on Lery's? How can we say killers are fair if we're aren't balancing them considering a huge variable?

Trying to "balance" a role by out right making you decide to use each killer's optimized map all the time is broken. No offense, but that's genuinely a bad idea.

If you're going to ban killers for being really bad on certain maps for the sake of balance, you'd also need to ban those same killers on their very best maps. Hag and Nurse on The Game and Midwich, for example - those killers sure as hell aren't balanced on those maps.

This wouldn't lead anywhere good. RNG's gonna RNG. I think they should work on making maps more compatible with all killers, but outright banning maps for certain killers would be foolish. (And if you let players do it, they're just going to ban The Game and Haddonfield every time, regardless of what killer they're playing.)

How can they "make maps more compatible with all killers" given the actual state of the game (having licensed realms who are very different than most)? Is that an actual possibility?

Some killers are simply not meant to have an edge with some maps, the same way your survivor loadout might get hard countered by the next killer you come across. Go farm specific map offerings if you’re feeling insecure.

Yes, I am all for this, but for both, survivors and killers! The only caveat is that they can only choose to remove RPD from their rotation.

Less indoor maps, and if you have indoor maps, give them long, wide hallways and big atriums; tiny corridors and tight turns screw over a lot of killers. (See Hawkins being way more playable for Huntress, Deathslinger, and Billy than Lery's or RCPD.) Less bright/daytime maps. And for the sake of Nurse and Blight, good and consistent collision detection.

As someone who enjoys Autohaven and MacMillan as killer and would love to only have those maps, that is a bad idea.

Playing Huntress on indoor maps is torture and most killers on Had-No-Fun is torture but sometimes you just gotta play on those maps. That’s just the luck of the draw.

Closest we will ever get to disabling some maps for killers are Sacrificial Wards.

If you want to avoid maps you don't want, use a map offering for a map you do want or you're at least okay with?

Of course you can't do this every game unless you have a gigantic stockpile (rarity loses all meaning if you pump your main(s) full until you have to cram the BP down their throat afterall), but that's because you're not supposed to in the first place.

It sucks to get that one map you really didn't want, but DBD is full of random stuff that can help you or screw you. From the map you end up on to gate spawns, and everything random inbetween like tile placement/distribution and whatever else.

No killer (except for mobile ones and maybe the occasional Trapper) likes shelter woods.. o

i feel nurse is a bad example with the right brain power nurse can still kick ass on indoor maps, i feel like billy, blight, huntress, deathslinger, trickster would be better examples
