Bad Perk University: No Mither Addendum
Hello class, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Sorry for being absent for all this time, I was involved in some difficult college assignments and also had a case of dysphoria that I don’t feel like getting into. I’m here for a special installment of Bad Perk University. It’s an addendum to my No Mither post that goes over some leftover thoughts about the perk and how some of my thoughts and opinions have changed about it. I may also do this for other perks in the future if certain things have changed enough to warrant it or if the perk functions entirely differently now, like Object of Obsession. But enough with formalities, here is my addendum post on No Mither.
I briefly mentioned a few perks that synergize with No Mither in my post, most notably Resilience. I still believe Resilience is non-negotiable, if you’re going for a No Mither build, you have to run this perk in it. There’s another perk that I briefly talked about that I think deserves some special attention: Tenacity. This perk is an invaluable asset in the situations where the killer has no choice but to slug you, since it allows you to crawl away faster, increasing the chances of the killer losing track of you on the ground, and it allows you to recover while doing so, allowing you to pick yourself up off the ground sooner when the opportunity presents itself. Unbreakable is a bit of a gamble here, but if you also choose to have that perk, you’ll get up even quicker, and you get to do it more than once. Believe it or not though, I wouldn’t recommend using Unbreakable with No Mither. Not a hard “no”, but if you were slugged long enough to be able to recover like that, as in the killer didn’t immediately pick you up after downing you, you probably don’t need the faster recovery speed, which is the only reason to use Unbreakable at that point. Instead, I might recommend Soul Guard, since it allows you to pick yourself up or get picked up near the killer and be able to tank a hit to get away. Also, it’s probably a good idea to wear dark cosmetics on your survivor so you can blend in with the grass and dirt when you get slugged. (In other words, play Claudette, since they already do that) Now I’m going to talk about a couple “honorable mentions”.
This is Not Happening is a perk that...exists, but it becomes a bit more usable when paired with No Mither. Just like with Resilience, since you’re always injured, you’ll always get the benefit of bigger Great Skill Checks. So uh...yeah, if you wanted to make that perk work, go for it. (Does this mean I don’t have to make a post about This is Not Happening? Use it with No Mither, there, that’s the post)
This one’s a bit out there: Breakout. Let’s say you didn’t want to heed my warning about using No Mither to be aggressive and harass the killer when they pick up a teammate. Breakout increases the chance of your teammate wiggling free, however small that may be, while you annoy the killer with your flashlight. But this isn’t quite enough, and in this aggressive situation, I actually do recommend you equip Dead Hard, as predictable as it is, since it allows you to bait a swing from the killer and waste more time. Also be sure to stand in front of the hook so that the killer has no choice but to hit you in order to hook your teammate (I’ll talk about this more when I get to Saboteur). Finally, uh...Rookie Spirit. That new Leon perk that people kind of forget about, yeah that one. When you’re a stealthy No Mither gamer, knowing which gens are regressing is good info. Use that if you want.
One last thing I wanted to mention. I don’t remember who said this first, but I think it was TheClownIsKing, and I wanted to spread this information because it’s important to the No Mither playstyle. In most situations as survivor when you get slugged by the killer, you want to start recovering immediately. That way when a survivor comes over to pick you up, you’ve made as much recovery progress as possible so that you don’t both get caught out. Obviously if you can crawl to a pallet and threaten a pallet save, do that too. When you’re using No Mither however, it’s the complete opposite. Start crawling away as far as possible from where the killer originally downed you, and then start recovering when you feel you’re in the clear. That way when the killer comes back to that spot, you’ll increase the likelihood of them losing you, allowing you to safely get back up again. This is why Tenacity is especially good in No Mither builds, since you can recover as you crawl away, decreasing your downtime.
And that’s it for my addendum. I’ll be back with a real Bad Perk University post soon, so please stay tuned, and thank you for coming to my lessons!
