No Competition, why? Is it our fault? Or is the Devs fault? All answers right here in my opinion.

Considering that Identity V exists just fine, I doubt that.

There's probably a couple of reasons:
Asymmetrical games usually start off with the idea of 'party game'. In this case, the idea of being chased around by some 'unstoppable force', picking off 'the team' one by one until either they're all dead or 1 or more manage to get away. You will likely have a lot of people who love the concept - for a bit anyway. But after playing game after game, that novelty is going to wear off. At that point a player is either going to quit or focus on other objectives - usually advancing their own skill. When the latter comes, that's where balance itself becomes more important....
And balance is going to be hard to do in any x v. 1 scenario. The higher the [x], the harder it will likely be. But then the [x]...
Has a problem with random teammates. Sure, the game might be theoretically balanced to some degree at that point, but usually with the assumption that the [x] have some basic teamwork and are relatively close in skill. A team is only as strong as its weakest link. DbD is a prime example of that. Getting 1 survivor out of the game ASAP dramatically shifts the rest of the match into the Killer's favor.
Or, in the case of the unstoppable force role, they are either paired against teams of much lower skill or much higher. This creates a slightly different, but similar set of problems.
Next up, I would say the more complex the 'win' conditions are for the [x], the more the game is going to rely on organized teams aside from PUGs. I remember watching some gameplay of F13 of a group of friends pretty much just messing around. There were a lot of key items and much of the chatter was reminding someone where to find the item because whoever had picked it up had gotten killed before they reached the car/boat/whatever. What the heck do people do when they're playing with other randoms who might be using a chat box at best, or have left the game because they're dead and it's time for the next match?
And it does seem like a lot of the DbD's competition are trying to come up with more complex win conditions for the sake of interest. Which is understandable. How many complaints have we all probably seen about 'holding M1' for the survivor role? Yet, I would say that simplicity is what makes DbD function reasonably well. The more complex the goals for the [x] become, the more room they need to actually have a shot at completing them. And by complex, I don't mean necessarily skillful, I mean more in volume, order of completion, search for whatever item, etc.
I have a few other thoughts here, but need way more coffee. But this is probably enough for now anyway.

In regular conversation, perhaps, but I find these are exceptional circumstances... this person is asking for opinions, yet rejecting them simultaneously... what?

Even if a good competitor came out, I don't think the DbD playerbase would give it the time of day. The brand loyalty is shooting out of every orifice. Gushing out of every hole. Bursting at the seams.

Because those games were not that good to begin with and they always stayed in DBD's shadow.

Yes because Netease (IdV publisher) is a chinese partner of Bhvr. Netease actually published DbD mobile aswell.
Coincidence ? :)

Alright mate.

Do you have a better counterargument besides the "Aigt m8"?
Or are you just throwing BS theories with no facts and evidence to back you up.

I understand it's difficult to spend a lot of time making something and find out that people didn't like it, but that's how it is. Just because you spend a lot of time on something doesn't mean people are going to like it.

It seems like you know things better than me. What's the point to bring arguments if it's a lost cause.
Plus you double that with "Bs theories", judging what I said, based on my very own experience ? Sorry but why would I be motivated to talk with you lol.

But once again that's not the point. How can you say a game is good/bad if it's been taken out not even a week after it's release ?

Touche. That said, the fact that multiple other games in the asymmettical Survival Horror genre existed without getting stamped out by a C&D or anything like that shows to me that the lack of meaningful competition isn't due to BHVR trying to legal away the competiton.

Yeah 100% agreed. I said that it "happened", never have I said it was the only reason there's no competition !
Can't wait to see what Evil Dead have to offer tho !

Fair point, I suppose I inferred too much from what you were saying. My bad on that one.

No problem, you're not the only one haha <3

At this point I don’t think anyone would even want to make a game like dbd. This genre only has one game in it that has actually succeeded. The majority of said games community is incredibly toxic, entitled, and judgmental. And on top of the community the one game they have as competition just so happens to not only have a 5 year head start. But also has some of the biggest names in horror to exist.

You're always gonna have a bigger player base at launch that gets smaller after the first few weeks/months. One of the few big updates the game had was making Jason immune to most stuns during rage mode, and hastened his progression to rage mode each time he was stunned, which was a step in the right direction. I feel like if they were allowed to continue balance changes like that, the game would have been much better than what we see now. And that's not even going into DLC or other new content.

So how come DbD grew and F13th stayed in that near-dead state for months on end?

I don't know. Magic. DBD should not be as successful as it is with all the problems and setbacks it's had in its short life. I guess they got lucky securing a bunch of licenses for popular horror icons, combined with competitive players like myself getting invested (or is it addicted?) to the game. I'm sure that any other big online game that gets an update which renders its console versions unplayable for a month would probably die.

This is what you say when you have nothing good to say.

Better say nothing than being toxic.
