i have over 1k hours in this game but never really bothered much with the flashlights, until now. i been trying to do some lately but mainly with a yellow flashlight with brown add ons like slighty better accuracy and more charge time but mostly with no luck.

it seems like im almost there but not pulling it off in most situations. is the yellow flashlight bad or does the timing just gotta be perfect?

It doesn't matter what flashlight it is really, a yellow works fine, the timing does have to be right though. Just start blinding as the killer 'bounces' the downed survivor on their shoulder. I just practiced the timing with two friends in kyf once and since then if I'm well positioned I'll usually hit it.

No addons change how fast you blind

Can blind at about 45° odd from directly forwards

When the survivors butt first goes near the killers shoulder that's the roughly the timing

I find the aiming for their face and neck while walking backwards helps.

Practice blinding the killer while they break pallets. You’ll get a feel at how to do it properly.

The main thing you need to practise is your aim. Knowing the timing is only good IF your aim is perfect.

    1. Learn exactly how to aim at their face. Just practice when a killer is kicking a pallet
    2. From one side of shack to the other is a pretty good distance for attempts. Too close and it's too difficult. Too far and you won't get the beam.
    3. The killer picks the survivor off the ground, then hooks his arm under them to finish the pick up. You start blinding after he hooks his arm under the survivor and starts lifting them up again.
    4. Angles can be quite stupid. So go for any attempt that is 60° either side of their face. You'll soon learn which killers are easier to get side flashlight saves on.
    5. If the beam doesn't close in then your not aiming correctly.

If you want to see a bunch of flashlight saves to help know how it looks then here is a link to a bunch of flashlight saves and misses. I'd suggest muting the video because I'm drunk in some of them. Just stop at "other highlights" lol this will hopefully show you how bullshit some angles are and how precise you need to be sometimes.

Nice video!!!!! Shows the exact timing of when to use your flashlight.

To add on to point 3, when the killer has the survivor hooked under his arm, he will quickly hoist him over his shoulder. It seems this is when you want to start your flashlight when he's doing the quick transition from under the arm, to over his shoulder.

Nemesis is a weird one since he doesn't hoist you over the shoulder, but the timing is still the same.

    1. down the Survivor
    2. pretend to pick up the Survivor. Look down with your head and if youre playing Killers like Demo, who can fake the grab, press CTRL but dont finish the Animation (for a portal ir whatever). This way you can fake a Grab.
    3. A wild Survivor appeared!
    4. Quickly turn around and smack her/him.
    5. repeat if he/she stays nearby. After like 2-4 Times of Faking just grab the downed Survivor and make sure to look towards a Wall or a big Rock! You could also spin around like doing a 360 before the Grab to confuse the Bunny Feng with her Flashlight!
    6. Profit.

You really dont need Franklins but you can take it with you, if 3 or 4 Flashlight got picked.

Good advice but the OP wants to get flashlight saves, not avoid them
