How to hit survivors...

How do you hit survivors when they're doing their zig-zag thing. I swear for me they become untouchable. I would do a quick swing and it would auto-lock onto them but not hit them i don't understand. I've also tried just lundging into them, no dice. Maybe it's lag or my computer is not good enough. Any tips or techniques would be appreciated. Also don't tell me to get good, that's not helpful in the slightest :/

Swing and follow where their character goes. You can also learn their movement patterns in-game.

The hitboxes are so big for the swing, i don't understand why it doesn't work, and that also doesn't make sense why auto-lock doesn't work.

A helpful strat. STOP!! seriously. Hold still and wait for the right moment. The survivors try so hard to juke and you just have to wait. If they are full 360ing then quick attack and the autolock does the rest. As you get more skilled you no will not need to stop. If you are constantly missing many attacks stop and calm down, wait, AND STRIKE!!

A lot of time they do that and your auto aim gets a bit confused. when they're doing that I just slowdown a little bit and watch them run around like a chicken with their head cut off. Then I pop right in their mug.
Turning your camera into your hit can help a bit too, like say if they're going for a vault from turning a corner, if you lunge follow through with you camera towards the survivor, but be careful about premature lunging as survivors can juke away and make you miss
