FIX PALLETS RIGHT NOW

It's not all about who has the best ping though. It also matters when each action started, how long each action takes and latency caused by server decision time. Some other threads have had some people showing the math. To not take credit for anything, I'll just post a picture below what someone wrote. They had to make some assumptions because we don't know the times for everything, but here they show the math on why the server would grant the stun with no hit to a survivor with worse ping than the killer.
Don't forget too that everyone's ping fluctuates. Just because you see 40 ping at the start of the match and see the survivor with 100 ping when you check match details doesn't mean that was the actual ping of both parties at the time the actions occurred in game.

Just quit playing killer. Add to the massive evening survivor queue time if possible. It is the only way this will get changed.

It's literally been explained in every single thread why the hit is being taken away.
Your game shows you hitting before the survivor gets the pallet down. The server is saying "that hit shouldn't have counted, my bad" and refunds the health state.
I guarantee from the survivor's perspective he was already throwing the pallet down.

This is the way it should be now? I'm hardly bothered by it because i haven't gotten any questionable hits. I'd rather the game be balanced than win via buggy means
2 -
Then it should be fixed, if my perspective is worse of than the player with a higher ping and I'm the one getting punished because of it doesnt seem really fair.
So like I said am I expected 1ping to see what actually will count? Or do we just have to guess now?
Its really just annoying and frustrating to play with this along side a bunch other issues such as audio, scratch Mark's etc.

To answer your questions first you always should be thinking about latency and adjust your play to account for it in multiplayer games. Every multiplayer game has this issue. If you read any top tier PVP or even PVE guide for WOW, they usually talk about latency and adjusting for it. When PUBG was popular, they tried to match people with the same ping together to lessen latency issues. Unfortunately I don't think Dead by Daylight has a big enough player pool to do that and not massively increase queue times for most players.
Mandytalk has stated in other threads that she will be taking the feedback to the developer team about the false hits on the killer perspective. Hopefully there is something that can be done to make it look better. At a minimum, some type of indicator to pop up for killers to see if a hit was cancelled.
As far as being fair, it isn't fair from the survivor perspective to see they threw a pallet on their screen in plenty of time to get the stun to still be hit by the killer either. It can even look worse with grabs over pallets. So my advice for you now until something better comes along is when you get a hit at the pallet, you should be looking at your indicators and screen to make sure the hit wasn't cancelled. Or take a break until something changes.

But the pallets are fixed finally after 5 years.

When I clearly get the hit with better ping it's not fair. The person with the best connection should be right no matter the side whether that's survivor or killer, I'm use to people with bad connection but it doesnt revert a whole health state, eat a stun, give them a burst in speed all while you had the better ping. In other games theres a slight delay in bullets, which you fire multiple of so it's not comparable in reality

I agree it should go to the player with the best ping if the two actions (throwing the pallet and swinging the weapon) start at the exact same time and they both take the same amount of time to complete. I'm sure it does go to the person with the best ping in that scenario. But when you see the survivor initially throw the pallet on your screen, that is not when the survivor actually threw the pallet on their screen. They threw it earlier because it had to travel from their computer to the server, wait for server processing, then travel from the server to your computer. So in my opinion, the fairest way for both sides is to award it to the person who's action reaches the server first, which is what this update is now doing. And in PUBG, I have head shot people, seen the blood spray but I ended up being the one that died because they shot close to the same time and because of the latency delay, I saw something happen on my screen that the server said shouldn't count. So it is comparable. Why is only your perspective what is fair? You realize their is someone on the other side of you playing who deserves a fair system as well?
As for the speed burst comment, I have been playing mostly survivor since the update rolled out. I have not once seen my character get a hit cancelled on them and been given a speed burst unfairly. Does anyone have a video from a survivor perspective clearly showing they had a hit cancelled and received a speed boost from the cancelled hit?
Also, I am not disagreeing with you on the fact that it sucks you see something happen on your screen that didn't really happen according to the server. As already stated, Mandytalk is giving this feedback to the developers. There might be something they can do about it to make this situation better.

Well I had better ping and they arent even close to 50%of the pallet drop to stun me so even if there screen is different to mine I had the better ping
And you cant upload videos on forums and I assume most cba to upload to YouTube etc
Well I hope they take the advice and fix it. Maybe it's worse in EU? honestly not sure how we share the same server as so many others, its obviously gonna be different from uk, russia etc.
1 -
Nah, experiencing these false hits in SEA too. It's bad everywhere.
0 -
Well I assume its everywhere just meant more common as EU due to that joining players from all from the world but putting them on a server. So I can have 40ping, someone have 80ping yet we're on the same server
1 -
I'm not sure why you keep saying you have better ping therefor you should win. That is not how math works. Please refer back to the example in my first reply to you. On their screen, the pallet was past the 50% drop mark and they weren't hit by you. Stop only considering your perspective.
And people post links to videos all the time on the forum.
Yes, I hope there is something they can do to make it better for the killer perspective but still keep it fair for both parties as well. Additional servers may help. That also might dilute the player pool more though and create longer queue times. I guess you have to pick your poison.

Actually it's kinda funny how pallets now work they actually take. No matter what ping you have (for experiment I was playing with 40-50ms and my friend lowered his speed to have around 300-400) and I had him downed after he dropped pallet but after I started breaking pallet server decided that "hell i want him reanimated" and he just got up. Moreover my game crashed with error code 412 in a second after that tested more then in 5 games 3 of which ended up crashing a game. So i really doubt that it's as ping dependent as intended. Sometimes it's working right and dropped pallet just gets back or hit that shouldn't happen is cancelled but 1 in 10 pallets you have a chance of crashing.

I'm not only considering only my perspective, I'm just saying to have way better ping and it's not even close to being dropped to be denied it isn't really a good thing. So yes they need to fix it/adjust it, that's all I have said.

Removing the killer seeing a hit canceled from consideration for this question because I agree that is frustrating and what the mods have said they will give feedback to the developers about, why isn't it a good thing? If the server received the stun from the survivor before it received the hit from you, shouldn't the survivor be rewarded the stun?

They don't get a post-hit speed burst if the hit is not validated.
The hit never happens on the survivor' screen until the server communicates it.
0 -
That's pretty ironic.
0 -
Ah yes heaven forbid pallets, a one-time use object be a valid source of safety for survivors.

I've been stunned by a pallet while standing outside of the pallet at least once today, so I don't buy this crap about "it's just the killer's latency."
