Smash hit "could" be META now with the change to hit validation.
Basically, If you are a MASTER pallet camper, you now guarantee the pallet stun without getting hit. This of course does require practice and game knowledge, but being able to consistently use a "chase ending" perk is HUGE.

Camping pallets definitely isn’t an optimal strategy, nor is the stun guaranteed playing like that.
But yes, smash hit is underrated and would’ve been used more if pallets weren’t broken when it released. It’s not the best against Nurse or killers who heavy respect though.

Nah. Just use Lithe and dumb tech the killer every time because even if you're not by a pallet you can still get use out of Lithe.
Smash Hit is a pretty terrible perk imo.

Well, no resources are powerful against nurse. And If a killer just heavily respects, camp the pallet and don't drop it. You can't get hit through it If you're good nowadays (basically just a cracked reaction time)

Lithe extends chases. Smash Hit outright ends them for the most part because you shouldn't chase after that survivor anymore (unless you're playing as a killer who can)

No it's a decent perk. But it's pretty weak since you have to rely on there being pallets in the map. So you might not know if your teammates used them all up. Or you might get a one time use of it. Which is not ideal for and exhaustion perk. Anyhow I have not noticed in increase of survivors using in it, so I highly doubt it.

There should always be pallets on the map during the match. If not, your teammates or you, are playing poorly.

No smash hit aint good. killer will mind game you, you dont stun him , bye bye, no haste. Pallets are mostly used to take bloodlust off the killer

I dont think so. If anything this change will make more killers respect pallets and also most of the time getting a stun will give you enough distance to get to the next loop anyway.

You would be surprised how many survivors I seen just drop pallets unnecessarily. Don't expect people to use common sense is I thing I learned real quick...

Uhh what? Even If you do get hit, you still get the speed boost. If you get hit and drop the pallet anyway, yeah you waste a pallet, but you essentially end the chase INSTANTLY. There should be no reason for the killer to keep chasing you If they want to win.

I think "meta" is a bit overkill, but I could definitely see it being used more often. Stunning the killer AND getting a speed boost at the same time allows you to get a ridiculous amount of distance. Lately I've been getting pallet stuns a lot more reliably, so I could see it being a better, but niche perk.

Respecting pallets would just waste time at that point. If the survivor has very good reaction time, with the new hit validation, there's NOTHING you can do. You will get stunned, the survivor will get away, and you won't get the hit.

A pallet stun should already guarantee enough distance barring Enduring.
Any other situation when that doesn't happen, it means the area is a deadzone, or the killer has mobility and can ignore distancing mechanics, which include exhaustion even when stacked on top of the stun.
The issue remains that having to use a resource in such a way that by itself would already guarantee distance only to stack a perk effect on it is highly inefficient.
Not to mention there are many killer powers that require pre-dropping.

The META is holding W, and that's what Smash hit encourages. Stun and hold W to the other side of the map.

That's not what I'm trying to argue. I'm saying that with the new hit validation, good luck getting the hit. And even If you do get hit, you're now at the other side the map. It was always this way, but it's more noticeable now. There are plenty of killers that can't avoid this.

The same argument can be made for DS, BT, and unbreakable. But those use cases are common. Different perks will be better against different killers etc. The number of nurses I go against is less than the amount of DS's I pull off every day. That's good enough for me.

Smash hit when it procs is the best distance gaining perk in the game.
Not only do you get 4 seconds of sprint burst (3.5 realisticly) but unlike other perks the killer is also stunned for the mayority of the time and on top of that has to break the pallet or walk around it.
Getting it to proc reliably is the catch though. If you can, then yes smash hit is amazing. Face nurse or any of the several ranged killers and you'll cry

Someone explain to me like im five years old why lithe isn't better. Just vault the pallet after the stun and its the same thing, plus getting to then use lithe everywhere else too.

Countered by enduring. End of story. Also takes time to vault. The speed boost is only for 3 seconds. There, 3 reasons given in less than 1 minute.

What if you want to stay by the pallet because it's really safe? That happens all the time to me and Smash Hit would do nothing. Lithe gives you way more opportunities with windows and more control about when you want to use it. Smash Hit will force you to use it if you want it or not.

You still have all the other problems which make Smash Hit a Joke of a Perk:
- Not every Killer really gets pallet-stunned, e.g. it is useless against a Nurse (most of the time) and less likely to be useful against Ranged Killers
- You still dont want to leave safe Pallets, so if you stun the Killer at Shack or a Jungle Gym, you want to stay there until they break the Pallet
- It is still HIGHLY situational and there is not really a point in bringing it over Sprint Burst, Sprint Burst is guaranteed safety, even in Deadzones, Smash Hit is useless if you dont have any Pallet nearby
- Killers can still respect unsafe Pallets, which means you wont get the Stun and they will get the Hit

No reason to stay at a safe pallet because the killer will kick it the second it's dropped. Unless that's not what you meant, in which case forgive me.

Camping pallets is wasteful, if they keep doing that then there will be deadzones in no time. It’s also not a guaranteed stun with no hit, you can still get hit through the pallet if you throw it down late.
But I get it, you are still salty that they made pallet hits/stuns fairer.

- TRUE but other perks are countered by other killers. (DS by Pyramid Head etc.)
- You do want to leave safe pallets because If the killer doesn't kick them, there's a chance they could be picked up If someone is running Any Means Necessary and even If no one is, the pallet can still be used and it's safe until kicked. It's a lose lose for the killer either way.
- Finding pallets isn't situational, stunning would be situational IF...
- You can't respect and get a hit with the new pallets If the survivor has good reaction times. Even then, as long as they are healthy, they can take the health state anyway and proc the perk, ending the chase immediately.

Everything said here is a lie. Camping pallets isn't wasteful If you do it properly. And I never said to camp every single pallet. You still want to loop. Just camp the unsafe ones or If you have to. I have no idea what you're going on about.

Yep, pretty much the gist of it. The perk has counterplay so it's fine anyway. Just trying to prove a point that it's more powerful now than people give it credit for.

Nope. Even with hit/pallet validation smash hit will still be the worst exhaustion perk, or at least one of the worst. It's too situational and against a killer who respects pallets you'll hardly ever get to use it. It's a decent perk but nowhere near meta at all.
