Progression Rewards Little, if not Suboptimal Outcomes
Progression in DBD has been an issue for a while. But it just really grinds my gears to know that after hundreds of hours of hard-earned levels and experience, one may not have even unlocked 75% of the Killer selection screen after investing so much of their own time into this often god-awful progression system. I mean, hitting Level 10, what do you get? 150 shards? Mind you that's after several hours for your average player. And it's between 50-75 before that. It takes approximately 35-49 Levels (or 138,270 XP) on average to pulp 9,920 shards (just enough to purchase a character) before your first Devotion.
That's ridiculous. If I'm being frank, that translates to a hefty amount of play hours. And for what? A new character? If progression was even mildly fair, shard earnings would be increased by at least 10%. That's given that you earn approximately 0.065 shards for every XP point within one Devotion (as per Wiki), which (roughly) equates to around 22638 shards after hitting Level 99. If we got this slight buff, we'd gain an extra 2264(ish) shards, which in turn is around 24901 shards altogether within your first Devotion. Even then, that's such a miniscule amount, but just enough to get you around 2 characters and then have some spare to save up when you devote.
If my calculations are off, especially crazily, please let me know.
This is just insane. I've seen diehard players average around 6.4k shards after 45 odd levels, and players closer to Level 90 with barely any proof of that paying off in terms of shards. Honestly, very saddening.
And I know this post is going to irritate a great portion of the community, and spark a whole debate if it gets acknowledgement, but these are just my suggestions, and my agonies. Please feel free to try and rebut my point here. Yes, you could argue that events and such and 'apology rewards' (like the one we got recently for the absolutely disgusting quality of console play at the moment) factor in, but ultimately, the rewards we get for free-to-play playing are just downright disgusting. You're really forced to spend some $50 on top of a game that most people already invested $40-80 on anyway.
Address the slack progression BHVR! Wow... I used an exclamation mark.
Oh, and don't get me started on Rift Fragments. Personally, I couldn't care less, but that's a whole new argument altogether...
